You need to make sure that the older RAM is DDR 400. Otherwise you may not be able to use both the old and new simultaneously.

The brands you may get are Transcend, Kingston, Dynet. 1GB is enough for you. Here in Bangalore DDR400 1Gb Dynet RAM is available for 1.6k (or mebbe even less).

I checked my RAM 2day and this is wat pasted in it..
PC2100 DDR SDRAM 32mx64 256MB DDR DIMM
I am not concerned abt the brand.

Does my MOB support 400MHz RAM????

If I go to the shop what how shuld I ask for the RAM.

Will I be asking 4 a SDRAM or DDR or DDR SDRAM with 333Mhz or 400MHz???

I am so confused.

Pls explain in detail guys.

TiA

Big shops will not sell PC components at such cheap rates. S P Road is where you can get everything at a bargain.

@OP
You can put in DDR400mhz on your system. But if I remember rite, Intel845 supports max 333mhz. So when you throw ina DDR400 RAM, it works at DDR333 speeds. The older RAM you haf is DDR266 (PC2100). So you may not be able to use both simultaneously.

Who told they sell 2nd hand things.. If u want 2nd hand ask them they give u!I am staying in bang for last 5 yrs and assembled more then 12pcs for friends and if some problem comes we have taken those parts directly to the company itself many times and they never had problem with sp road things :) Also they will give you proper bills which is required when u want any warranty support!
If question is how they make it cheap then the thing is the items are really that cheap but in branded shops they increase the price and shell!
Anyway its all up to u

IMHO do not use the older RAM. It may create problems. Jus go ahead and buy 1GB DDR400 RAM.

If you haf any doubts then take your old RAM stick there for identification purpose.

PC3200 means DDR 400, PC2100 means DDR266, PC2700 means DDR 333.

1GB DDR400 for 2/2.4k is costly man! Here in Bangalore you get it for 1.7k or so.
