Hi,

1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)
INR 50,000 - 70,000

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
12"-14"

3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
1. Watching Movies
2. Office Suite - Data analysis within excel, ppt, taking notes (for this MS Surface came into my mind)
3. Web browsing - Like around 50 pages/tabs/links at the same time

5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
Intel processor with some good graphics card and SSD (or better)

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
a. Like: HP, Microsoft, Dell, others (open for more)
b. Dislike: Apple (not dislike, but currently using Mac Air and so not very inclined towards Apple as of now. And there is this instance when the service centre was pitching for around 20,000 for some insurance plan. Totally expensive.

6) Anything else you would like to say?
  • Screen resolution: Full HD
  • Battery back up: extended
Well, I have good reviews of MS Surface but as I am not very aware of the current market dynamics, not very convinced. I have great feedback for its stylus pen how it is integrated with apps to provide overall good experience. Looking for something light, thin, and portable.

In case I have missed anything to mention, please let me know. Thank you for help :)

Also a couple of points which I forgot to mention. so it's been a while I am using a Mac.. so OS getting hung-up, Fan noise, slow boot time, etc. are now not common for me. So it would be quite difficult to manage with a model which might have any of these issues. I was going through HP's website and got some reviews for Envy models for their cooling and fan issues, so thought of putting this :)

MS Surface is expensive & not sure about their RMA service in India.Better go with Dell as their RMA is the best & their extended warranty plans are also not that expensive(still expensive compared to others but then quality of service is also better).

Asus Zenbook 13 & Acer Swift 3 with i5 8250U, 8GB, & 256/512GB SSD were on sale for 55k or so from time to time. At that price both are good deals. I'd prefer Zenbook over Swift 3.

Surface Pro also comes around same price. The CPU also performs nearly same. Only big plus I saw in Zenbook was 512 GB SSD but then Surface Pro has far superior screen. Why aren't we suggesting Surface models here? Or the 8250U is too weak against 8550U to handle 50 browser's tabs and big excel sheets?

Surface Pro is MS exclusive product & not much is known about their after sales support & what happens after warranty period is over & there is some issue.Asus has proven RMA track record plus you get 3 years warranty by paying extra 1799.

Surface Pro 6 costs 70k + 15k for the keyboard cover. Seriously, not worth it IMO. After sales is another issue. I'd prefer XPS 13 for 90k instead but considering ultrabooks of similar specs but inferior build to XPS & Surface are available for 55k, those 2 doesn't seem worth it.
