i want to buy Desktop for casual gaming..

i went to a local shop and he gave me a configuration.. i am giving it below..

Intel Dual Core E5500 (3.0 GhZ)
Asus P5G41 Motherboard
4gb ram (corsair)
WD 500GB harddisk
L.G dvd writer
18.5" AOC LED Moniter
V-guard 600VA UPS
Priya 500W SMPS (i never heard of this company)

(i dont want a keyboard and mouse. Also i have a NZXT cabinet).

Total amount with out keyboard, mouse, cabinet he said Rs.22000

is it worth it..? or am i paying more..?

I have couple of more questions...

1.Want to buy a Asus GeForce GT210 1GB DDR3 NVidia PCI E Graphics Card (EN210-SILENT-DI-1GD3-LP) in the future. is this card is compatible with motherboard...?

2. I dont trust Priya SMPS..? is it good..? i was thinking of buying a
Corsair Builder Series CX430 V2 430W Power Supply (CMPSU-430CXV2) separately and give a time of assembling..

3. If i changed the Processor and mother board to AMD Phenom II X4 840 & Asus M5A78L-M-LE will all the other components including the graphics card will be compatible with this mother board and CPU..?

Plain and simply out-dated configuration. There is NO need to go for Core 2 Duo in 2012.

Try getting this:

Athlon II X3 435 = 3500
Asus M5A78LM LE or M4A78LM LE or GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2P @ 2800
4 GB DDR3 1333 Mhz RAM = 1300 (Avoid Corsair XMS3. Not Corsair)
WD 500 GB Hard disk = 3800
LG DVD Writer = 950
18.5" AOC LCD Monitor = 5200
Corsair CX430V2 = 2400
UPS = your choice. ~2000

Total = ~22000.

Spend 1500 more and you'll get Athlon II X4 645 or Phenom II X4 840 @ ~5000.

1.Want to buy a Asus GeForce GT210 1GB DDR3 NVidia PCI E Graphics Card (EN210-SILENT-DI-1GD3-LP) in the future. is this card is compatible with motherboard...?

3. If i changed the Processor and mother board to AMD Phenom II X4 840 & Asus M5A78L-M-LE will all the other components including the graphics card will be compatible with this mother board and CPU..?
I won't advise going for nVidia GT 210. Because it is barely faster than the on-board graphics you find in most AMD motherboards. Waste of money. But yea, compared to onboard graphics in Intel Core 2 Duo motherboards, it is an improvement. AMD platform in your budget is much more balanced and better.

Go for Phenom II X4 840 + Asus M5A78LM LE .

Regarding graphic card compatibility, read this page: *www.thinkdigit.com/forum/graphic-c...ormation-regarding-graphic-cards-newbies.html No, I won't give a straightforward answer for this as you are merely a Google search away.

2. I dont trust Priya SMPS..? is it good..? i was thinking of buying a
Corsair Builder Series CX430 V2 430W Power Supply (CMPSU-430CXV2) separately and give a time of assembling..
Priya SMPS sucks. Corsair CX430V2 is fine.

WELCOME TO TDF

How will u rate your gyyan for HARDWARE out of 5.

If <3 stick to DIGITIAN'S advice

If >3 u know very well that the local shop is trying to clean its junk through you. Just refrain from that shop who sells dual core at the end of 2011.

What the heck is that?? Never heard of it. From its name it sounds like a crap desi brand. Avoid that kind of product all the time.

Hi... i finally choose to buy "Asus M5A78L-M LE AM3". But i am confused with which processor.. i have three choices

1. AMD Phenom II X2 560 4900rs (flipkart)
2. AMD Phenom II X2 555 4560rs
3. AMD Phenom II X4 840 5200rs (itdepot).

please tell me which one should i choose..

(price of the 3rd one was slashed because of some offer)

whether AMD has slight edge over Intel..? i saw dual, triple, quad core and hex core processors in the AMD site.. and intel has only dual and quad core that i knw of.

for SMPS i have two choices FSP Saga II 400 (less price) or CORSAIR (CMPSU-430CXV2UK)..?

i knw both are good. but which is better..?

i read that WD started producing hard disks again. Will there be any change in prices.?

i wanted to ask a general question..

which is the best site to buying computer hardware..?

i knw some sites itdepot, ebay, flipkart, letsbuy, primeabgb, itwares etc.. i dont knw which one to choose.

in ebay the hardisk price is low. but high in itdepot.

in letsbuy the warranty of moniters are only 1 year. So price is low.

like that there are many price differences for different hardwares all over the sites.
i am really confused from where to buy.. is it better to buy from local shops rather than online...? Can you suggest me some sites...

Hey first decide a budget.
Then very important check the reviews of each component you want to buy. Check prices online and in shops. You are getting a pc now so think how long you will use it before an upgrade.
If you are a casual gamer, amd will do, but Intel will give better performance but little pricey. Check Tdp of processor to understand if it is a power hog.
Graphic card I would suggest 460gtx for playing current games makes no sense using older ones and then not being able to play newer games ;)
And to be safe use corsair 450vx , it is a very decent psu for a decent rig

I don't think there is any processor named "Phenom II X4 560"....may be it was Phenom II X2 560 - a typo.

Over dual core Phenom IIs, I'd say, get Athlon II X4 645 ....which is Rs. 4750 on Flipkart - Flipkart: AMD 645: Processor

Or

Phenom II X4 840 - which should be around Rs. 5200~. I find Flipkart's price for Athlon II X4 645 good, so go for it. Phenom II X4 840 is actually merely 100 Mhz faster than Athlon II X4 645. Doesn't make much of a difference.

In your budget, AMD is the better choice. If you don't care about money, then Intel has the fastest processor. AMD had the fastest processor from 2001 to 2007. Intel has been ruling the industry since 2007. But in your budget, AMD is better.

Cores won't really decide which processor is faster. For example, my processor Intel i5-2500k (cost 12000) has 4 cores and it is much faster than 4 cores of Athlon II X4 645 (cost 4750) and sometimes faster than 6 cores of Phenom II X6 1090T (cost 9000) (in multi-threading). And back in the day when AMD was the leader, a two core Athlon 64 X2 @ 2.4 Ghz would steamroll over dual core Pentium D @ 3.5 Ghz.

for SMPS i have two choices FSP Saga II 400 (less price) or CORSAIR (CMPSU-430CXV2UK)..?

Power supply? Corsair CX430V2 over FSP Saga II 400w.

Hard disk prices? not getting low anytime soon.

Best site for computer hardware? I won't mind buying the processor with Cash-on-delivery from Flipkart. Otherwise PrimeABGB and SMCInternational.in are my choices. Ebay is reliable too. TheITDepot? I'm buying one thing from them, I'll comment after it. TheITWares is okay too, but few people have had issues. Getting a BILL from the websites is a must.

If stuff is available at local shop, then there's no problem. It is your choice. :)

@ico

the 3rd processor is AMD Phenom II X4 840 5200rs, it was a typing mistake..

i think i will choose this...

i forgot to ask one more thing.

i have read in the forum that when the bulldozer CPU is out AMD could slash prices of current phenom models..? will they slash the prices..? i have no problem of waiting.

Cilus

laborare est orare
Bulldozer CPUs have been released but there is no sign of slashing the price of older Phenom II and Athlon II processors. As Bulldozer didn't perform as per the expectation and also cost higher than their Phenom brothers, there is a very little chance of further decrease in price for the Phenom II and Athlon II processors.

well, instead of moving forward with Bulldozer and getting closer to Intel, AMD shot themselves in the foot and Bulldozer CPUs are slower than their older Athlon II/Phenom II CPUs - clock to clock, core to core and watt to watt. The architecture has much scope for improvement, but it isn't the one you should buy now.

So, Phenom II X4 840 is pretty much the best for you.

Finally i made configuration...

Processor - AMD Phenom II X4 840 or AMD Phenom II X2 560 3.3GHz
Motherboard - M4A78LM LE

Ram - 4gb Corsair 1333Mhz

Hard disk - WD 500 GB 7200rpm

DVD Writer - LG or Sony

Monitor - AOC 18.5" LED Moniter

SMPS - Corsair CX430V2

is there any prblms with the configuration..? any non-compatibility prblms regarding CPU or mobo or RAM..?

Can you mention the street prices also

Regarding the processor i am still confused

AMD II 840 has quad core but cache memory is less and speed is 3.2 GHz and more price

AMD II X2 560 is dual core, but the cache memory is more, speed is 3.3GHz this and also the price is less

Which is better..? in terms of performance and reliability

i read basics abt graphics card in the forum.

But i didn't read anything abt PCIe 2.1.

Whether the PCIe 2.0 port is compatible with PCIe 2.1..? i have seen "HIS" graphics card in flipkart.com with PCIe 2.1,thats y iam asking..

Also iam thinking of assembling desktop by myself. is there any tutorials or videos in the forum..? Can any one give the links

All the PCIe higher versions are compatible with the lower versions of PCIE slot.

For motherboard try to get the Asus M5A series like M5A78L LE motherboard which is a AM3+ mobo with 125W CPU support and 4 ram slots.

You can also look for Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P motherboard.

Regarding your processor query, my vote goes to Phenom II X4 840 instead of the Dual core Phenom II X2. The reason is that due to the 4 cores, Athlon II 840 is better in multi-threaded apps and games are also being multi-threaded now a days. Also you can overclock the Phenom II X4 840 to gamin some extra performance.

just got a new comp yesterday, saw the prices, the Phenom II X4s are really great VFM...instead of getting dual cores at 5k, i got the 965BE for Rs6.3k... 4GB DDR3 XMS3 cost me only 1.2k :D !

Get the Quad Core.

I had mentioned all PCIe are forward and backward compatible. :) That answers your query.

Is it possible for me to play games like NFS Run, GTA V, if i change my current configuration to 2gb ram and Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6450 1GB DDR3 Graphics Card..?

Also i was thinking of buying WD harddisk (4600rs). today found out this,
Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C Series HDS721010CLA332 1 TB 7200 RPM 32 MB SATA 3Gb/s Internal Hard Drive. 4550rs

i dont knw abt Hitachi hard disks. is it good...? Cab i trust this HDD..? Why they are selling a 1 Tb hard disk for less price..

Cilus

HD 6450 is not a gaming card, it is a HTPC card. So don't expect any good gaming performance. Also let us know what is your existing configuration.

Wait for 2-3 months if you can, before purchasing any 1TB HDDs. For a stop-gap solution, use any existing hdd or buy a 160GB or 250GB one.

Bibin - 6450 would have been a decent card if the asses at amd wudve atleast given it a 128bit bus. Its 64bit bus + GDDR3 really screw its performance. Else it wouldve played nfs etc at low/med settings at 720p.
