1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.' Vague answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work.)
Ans: Wanted a System to Run Various Virtual Machines ( OS/Various tools etc,) (NON-GPU Intensive)

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then please mention it.
Ans: 30K

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win 10/Linux

5. How much hard drive / solid-state drive space is needed?
Ans: Not required, already have

Do you want to buy a monitor?
Ans: Not required ( have HDMI Monitor ), most of the time it will be running as a headless system.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy? i.e. which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Monitor / HDD/KB/Mouse /UPS/

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: As soon as possible.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before? Or, will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Yes

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get it locally?
Ans: Kerala >Kannur, Prefer Online purchase.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans::
  1. Prefer a CPU with 6+ Cores (Previously Using Phenom II X 6 1050 T).
  2. Require 20GB+ RAM ( will be upgrading to min 32GB RAM+ in future).
  3. The system is going to be a headless system, and with no plan of gamming on this system, GPU is not required.
  4. Prefer a System that has Low Idle Power usage, as my Phenom II x6 125 TDP used to console lot of power.

16GB DDR4 3600 MHz ram + i5 10400 would cost around 25k. You need to increase the budget.
Hi, Thank you for giving insight on pricing, Price increased to 40k,

Also, I was looking at Primerbg and made a setup, kindly suggest if I can get a better configuration for my price range.

This config is way unbalanced.

Those are old ram prices and out of stock, 16 GB sticks are now 8K+

While 1700 is a good choice for VMs, you might want to think of IPC and temperature improvements over the generations and go for something newer. Also, having an iGPU could be beneficial for debugging purposes.

IMO your budget is bit low to fit a 6 core CPU + 16GB RAM, still this is what I can come up with:

CPU - Intel i5 10400 - 16k

Mobo - MSI B460M Pro VDH WiFi - 10k

RAM - 2x8GB DDR4 2666+MHz - 7k

GPU - iGPU

M.2 SSD - Kingston A400 120GB - 3k (no need if you have a SSD)

HDD - Yours

PSU - Corsair CV450 - 3k

Cabinet - MSI Forge 100M - 4k

Monitor - Yours

Total - 43k

I don't think A520 supports Ryzen 1st gen.

nac

Aspiring Novelist
A520 doesn't support R7 1700

Ryzen 5 4650G + B450 + 16GB 3200mhz DDR4 + Bronze rated 450w + Cabinet should cost about ~40k

Nerevarine

R7 1700 should actually be better for virtualization as 2 extra cores can be passed onto the guest OS. @OP, what do you think ?

Hi Everyone, i have checked through every replies , thank you everyone for recommendation,

@SaiyanGoku - Budget has been increased as i would like to have 16 Thread CPU for my requirement
@Nerevarine - Price updated my below sheet as per MD website.
@omega44-xt - Price updated
@nac - Thank you , i was just checking the CPU Socket, thankyou for highlighting MB Compatibility with Older Gen CPU.
@Nerevarine - I too taught based based on extra cores, but when i checked few review & Comparison website, the other was showing more Performance.

I have updated Budget based on feedback , also made updated Price list , i noticed most of the Ryzen R7 doesn't have IGPU and i would be forced to buy a PCI GPU if i am going 4 AMD.

  1. Please suggest if i can get better build for my price range or 55K, also how about Server CPUs ? are they any good over these for my usage ,
  2. I have Chosen 16X Single DIMM as i would be going for another 16GB DIMM very soon and this M.B have 4 x DIMM slot , so can upgrade to 16GB X4 in future.
  3. Please suggest if the stock CPU cooler along with 120 Fan coming with below Chassis will be enough to cool the CPU ? or should i invest in "Cooler Master Master Liquid Lite 120 CPU Cooler AMD Socket AM4 MLW-D12M-A20PW-R1 " ?
  4. How much Capacity SMPS is required ? ( my future upgraded configuration would be i7 10700+ MB + 4x 16GB DIMM + CM Master Liquid Lite 120 (optional) + 2x SSD RAID 0 + 2TB Mech. HDD ).

Please suggest if any better config can be obtained in my budge,

IMO for 8 core CPU, get i7 11700 for like 4k extra to get a bit performance bump over i7 10700. But it has same problems like i7 10700, main one being thermals. You will have to invest in a good cooler + mobo +cabinet as Intel i7 CPUs draw like 170W+ w/o power limits & runs hot. Sadly this will push up the costs.

My recommendation, if you can afford:

CPU - Intel i7 11700 - 31.5k (link)

Mobo - MSI Z490 A Pro - 15.5k (make sure it has latest BIOS to support 11th gen)

RAM - 1x16GB DDR4 3200MHz - 7k

GPU - iGPU

M.2 SSD - Yours

HDD - Yours

PSU - Corsair CV650 - 4.9k (amazon)

Cabinet - MSI Forge 100M - 4k (amazon)

Monitor - Yours

Total - 62.9k

To save money
CPU - i7 10700 - 27.8k
Mobo - Gigabyte B560M DS3H AC - 10.5k (at least you can use XMP) (link) [It will likely not run i7 w/o power limits at max possible performance]

This will cut costs by almost ~10k

Cooler recommendations
Noctua NH D15 - 8.5k
or Deepcool Gamerstorm Assassin III - 7.5k
or Lian Li Galahad 240mm AIO - 9.5k
or ARCTIC Freezer 34 Esports Duo - 4.4k
or Deepcool GAMMAXX 400 Pro - 2.5k

Avoid 120mm AIO. Recommend getting the ARCTIC one. The stock cooler will hit 85-90C at 65W power limit of CPU, can't use the CPU's full potential. Invest in a good cooler later.

The 650W PSU I suggested should be fine even with a 200W GPU.

Avoid server CPUs & 1x16GB RAM is fine considering future upgrade potential.

Intel Core i7-11700 -32,150
Gigabyte B560M DS3H A -10,450
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB*4 -8250/-
MSI MAG FORGE 100M - 4,450
DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX L240T - 4,691 -
Antec NE650M 650W(Semi Modular) - 4,950

some of the prices are higher as i preferred to buy all from single vendor , primearbg

i will post Temperature/Pics/Benchmark results in few days)
------------------------------------------------------

Also please suggest a budget NVM PCI SSD 500 GB ? ( i see v4.0 is costing high ) , so maybe v3.0 , ( i have 2TB , 1.TB Mech for long term storage, and 256 GB for OS and applications, would prefer a NVM 500GB SSD for VM

Congrats

WD SN550 & Kingston A2000 are good budget NVMe options, they go for ~5k frequently, even lower on sale.

Crucial P5 is a TLC SSD, I thought it was QLC like P1. Anyways, it seems good, might need a heatsink to keep temps in check.

At what price are you getting it though?

Thankyou Omega,

Please find the price details as per Amazon,

I am confused technically about P1, P5, TLC vs QLC vs SLC vs MLC in terms of Durability and Performance over time,

I see most vendor providing 120/240/480 TBW or 5Years whichever is earlier.

Also below drives showing Gen 3.0 and Speed 3GB+

I was interested in vendors like Crucial, Samsung as they provide Ram cache software and using which I might save few TBW and increase life of SSD and maybe some performance increase also for my VM workload.( Read somewhere WD also uses system ram cache ).

System Ram : 64GB

IMO TLC is enough for most users. Avoid QLC purely because its not cheap enough compared to TLC while being inferior. For day to day usage, most people will likely not see a difference between QLC & TLC, but when you are copying files, speeds drop to HDD level once SLC cache is filled up (depends on storage capacity left on drive). Maybe watch Intel 660p review by Linus Tech Tips.

IMO get Crucial P5 over Samsung 980 as 980 is DRAMless.
