Romeo + Lucifer = ME
In my bios i can find a thing called PCI latency timer........
I am using D102GCC2 motherboard. Its default value is set to 64. Can anyone tell me what does it mean and what impact will it have on the performance of the system if i increase it or decrease it?

Moreover one of my friend is about to buy Pebtium D 915 can anyone tell me the overclocking capabilities of the processor alone(assuming his motherboard supports Overclocking).

i answered your problem in the section but i am answering it here also

Latency is a value assigned to each device on the PCI bus which determines how long that device may "hold on" to the bus before it must relenquish it to another device which wishes to use it. The value is an integer between 0 and 248. A value of zero means the device will immediately give up the bus if another device wishes to transmit, while a value of 248 means the device will hold on to the bus for the maximum amount of time possible.

Higher values mean that other devices will have to wait longer to be able to use the bus (latency), but will increase the effective bandwidth of the bus due to a reduction in the overhead required to transfer between devices.


and look if you cant find the option then its surely been locked up by the board manufacturer and you should try updating your bios...

overclocking is a very difficult task to perform as it may seriously hamper your motherboard processor and the component you are overclocking....

your processor can be overclocked till 3.02 ghz without any cooling solutions needed but every processor has a different architecture and overclocking capabilities....
