I'm looking to buy a DVD player which can play DivX format as well.

Need all the advice I can get on what to look for, what to avoid and which is the best.

Please help.

Guys never ever go for a phillips DVD player its the worst DVD player ive ever seen . even a local assembled DVD player will work much better than a phillips ddvd player .

Dude, I checked out the specs, it's not 5.1 home theater compatible.

I'm now leaning a lot towards Philips, but they don't provide on-site service.

Does anyone know of any other options besides these two?

ok well iam not a pro at these theater systems et all
so correct me if iam wrong
but as far as i think it is very well an 5.1 theater compatible
you can have a look at the posted the pic of the rear panel
ive taken it from its user manual
as per its setting it player settings it shows me settings for
Dolby digital out
i can even configure the 5.1 settings as per my speaker setup in my room
it even has DTS in its settings

p.s if you think in the specifications those zeros means "NA"
then its not that way it has been marked "0" for the features it supports

Mitashi is the best at the mo. The Phillips DVD players have been pulled off the shelves and Phillips dont maufacture it anymore. It wasnt found to be stable. If you use it regularly to play DivX movies the player was found to crash. Mitashi on the other hand is doing pretty good and is cheaper than the Phillips as well.
