Hello everyone,

Posting on behalf of a friend. Need a laptop for normal day-to-day tasks and mostly backups of photos from phone.
Looking for
  • 16GB at least,
  • a decent IPS display, (for movie watching, not a priority)
  • light weight and
  • better after sales services, so I would not consider Acer like brands. Preference is Dell
  • 1TB SSD if possible
I dont know how much is the difference between i5 1334u and R5 7530U, so need help in deciding if we can save some money by choosing AMD.

IdeaPad Slim 5 or 3, Vivobook S14 are options to consider HP Omnibook 5 is a little beyond budget
If you want Dell, then the 2023 Inspiron will be in budget

Thank you Desmond and Anorion for the replies!!

Budget is 60k. Can spend more slightly if it means no upgrade for 5+ years. But would prefer to be cheaper. Yeah seems to be expensive. Need a config which is good enough for Win11, multiple browser tabs(20 at most i believe) and file transfer from phone to external HDD. I think they will not be willing to spend a single penny after this, in fact they will prefer if the laptop last them a decade for such basic use. Hence I decided a 60k budget with at least 6 core with 16GB RAM and SSD.
I liked IdeaPad Slim 5.

A quick question though, RAM modules are always soldered now?

How are these compared to Dell i posted above?

How will the general and battery performance be, among these
R5 7535HS vs R5 7520U vs 7530U vs i5-1334U

Lenovo with 7535 looks good deal right now but not sure if it will heavier on the battery in long run.

Uh this is a complex story. Basic answer is yes, but Intel backtracked a bit because it compromised their downstream supply chain. What happened was OEMs realised that they had a surplus of proccies tied to too much ram. So they could not strip RAM from European markets and dump in Asia. Overall industry answer is yes, it is a requirement for thin and light laptops, as well as on-device-AI capabilities, so stop thinking of laptop as desktop replacement!

Visiting those pages says that these models are not available. Slim 5 is not available. But Slim 3 looks good enough for your use cases.
