Augmented reality apps

Ok so just got a new sony T2 phone and perhaps the most impressive app is something called AR effects.

It's proper augmented reality, you turn on the cam, it'll sprout out a jungle on your dining table, then there will be a dinosaur walking through it, all of which you can see on your phone screen. The scene moves in real 3D as the camera pans, moves or tilts.

However would love to know if something like this is available on the playstore for other phones

Well, I tried to use this app: *play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ar.augment
It have a huge collection of 3D models to play with and gives an impression of Augmented Reality, but it's half baked. When you try to move around the object, the model doesn't rotate as you would expect.

But it was cool to see the DeLorean in front of my home:

Let me give this a shot as well. The sony one seems to work really well, buggy, but still impressive enough

Can you pull out the apk of the Sony app using Astro file manager or something?

Damn, the Augment app works great when I use a Tracker sheet! I didn't know about the Tracker sheet, and now that I used it, I can rotate around the 3D model!
