Can any configurations of PCs, collected randomly at my will could be established and made to work as a unit?:razz:

NO!

If you are thinking of mixing older parts(from old 1990's) with some newer ones (present 2010-2011) then it will not match.

Because over the years, the socket for intel motherboard has rapidly gone a big change.

Also with it other parts form factor have change, like for example RAM.

So, the basic answer is NO!.

But you can use some old parts in new ones like:

CD Rom Drive
Harddisk
Monitor
PCI cards (modem)
Cabinet (but depends)
Floppy Drive (if you think it is needed this days)
 
Always while starting any new thread, please frame your question properly, so that the forum can answer your question properly. In one word, always be specific, while constructing any query.

Even components from the same era, and based on the same socket, may not work together, because of the part that electricity plays in the machine. At the very least, you would experience a loss in performance by "randomly collecting" components "at your will". At worst, you would be left with the burnt remains of those components.
