Suggestion needed for a friend

1. Budget - Rs.15000

2. Display type and size - around 6 inch

3. Dual sim - Not required but will not hurt

4. Preferred choice of brand - None

5. What camera option you want - Whatever Best available

6. Preferred operating system? - Android preferably Stock

7. Preferred connectivity options - 4G VoLTE

8. Primary use of handset - various financial and banking apps

9. Any specific mobile phones in consideration - Asus Max Pro m2 (whichever is better)

10. Any other info that you want to share -

It will be primarily used with an AirTel 4G VoLTE number given in banks & various financial and banking apps will be used on it. Because of this / security reasons, he is looking for a Stock Android model.

He wants to use it for some 1 1/2 to 2 years.

Also, he says he can wait for 1-2 months if something else is expected.

Few people suggested Realme and Redmi Note 6 Pro but others talked about bloatware in Realme and too much advertising in Redmi.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 or even Redmi Note 5 Pro (not much difference compared to 6 pro, if you want to save some money)

Adv of Redmi over M2 is you can officially unlock the bootloader, and it still won't void warranty. You can later remove bloatware apps or even flash Custom ROM.

thanks for the reply. fellow is not a tech person so he won't be doing anything like that. also xiaomi phones show advertisements at many places which make many people paranoid.

Oh. Even then, he can still root RN5/6P, install Adblocker apps like Adaway and continue to use MIUI. If he likes stock android and simpler interface, i suggest Zenfone .

I too suggested zenphone
Moto X4
Moto X4 (Super Black, 64 GB) Online at Best Price Only On Flipkart.com

This phone already received pie and since motorola is known to have clean software I suggest this other advantages are better build quality,IP68 rating and good cameras while asus is plastic build and camera's are not great.

Thanks a lot for the response. Motorola updates are irregular. Soon this model will be 2 years old and then they will if not stop then almost forget it for updates. Then the fellow will curse me.

Also do note that custom roms/root are increasingly being censored by latest banking apps.Sure there are ways to bypass it but judging by comments on play store it is safe to assume that nowadays chances of banking apps having issues on custom roms/rooted phones are more than stock/default phone config.

I thought after lenovo takeover everything has gone down(hardware as well as software) for motorola mobiles if one goes by reviews/comments.

No rooting on the phone. When I asked him, he said when I, an ex IT guy is not doing it, how can I expect it from him. I answered sorry mate.
He wants stock only as he is terrified of custom rooms having too much bloatware which may have hidden code.
I am using g5s plus since October 2017. Cc / forums are bad. Moderators are like goondas. My threads / posts were deleted many times. Queries went unanswered. On Twitter they ask you to DM but do nothing.

Actually custom roms from reputed sources are sometimes even more secure as their source code is usually available so anybody can inspect for themselves(kinda like linux). Only thing is stability issues & of course there are risky custom roms too. Banking apps just don't want any extra risk in today's increasingly dangerous online malware scene so they don't like an OS with too much user freedom.

Cc / forums are bad.
what's this Cc?

This is why I also prefer stock for this type of usage as it is difficult to select a genuine software phone that is good. Most if not all customized rom phones are termed as having bloatware. Then comes the irregular security update issue.

what's this Cc?

I agree. My g5s plus has a good build quality but on the software front, Lenovo is pathetic. It is this reason along with bad cc are the reasons that is making us stay away from them.
Ok. Will ask him to check Nokia.
