Hello guys

I don't have TV at home, but I have a unlimited WiFi internet connection.

I want to have a device that is capable of connecting to YouTube via WiFi, if remote is also available that is good, now I am thinking about either tablet or an android based TV.

I would like to any provided it serves the purpoae.

Budget as low as possible. I would love a 10 inch or bigger screen tablet, so me my kids and other family member can use it,

Please suggest guys.

Android based TV is a better option than Tablet. Tablets are portable but too small to enjoy multimedia, especially for families.

These days I am trying to convert my TV to a full fledged Internet enabled TV using a Raspberry pi. But I guess, an Android TV would be less of a hassle.

Raspberry pi, how you do it?
Also I found that there are many smart TV boxes are available. It seems I will go for it then.

Anyone suggest a good one

If you don't want much hassle, TV (non-smart) + Chromecast will be the best bet!
Your phone can be your remote/keyboard/controller :)

Cheers,

Ace.

I thinking about a basic TV for 10 k and a smart box or raspberry pi box to connect WiFi, apps etc

you can also buy a monitor, and an android stick like mk808b plus, connect it to the monitor through HDMI, and use the monitor like a giant android tablet.

Thanks guys, but I want to have a experience of TV + internet + Android at the same time, any good setup you can suggest, like TV to choose, box to choose, there are so many available in market,

I want remote control also, and it should play media from external hdd, USB etc

what i had suggested has everything you need. you would just need to get a display. can use right out of the box without any programming or setting up to do, although you could use custom ROMs too on it. you could then watch youtube for your TV shows, use browser(s), use apps like kodi, popcorn time etc., as well as cast your mobile screen onto it using miracast. can either use a virtual keypad from your phone, or use a wireless mini keyboard with trackpad, or even normal mouse & keyboard.

P.S. - TV/monitor you could may be buy from amzn/ebay in the ongoing sales.

I have done this, purchased a generice RK3288 based tv stick from ebay with 2GB RAM and 8GB internal memory. It connects to my TV's HDMI port, uses one USB port for power. And purchased an Airplay mouse, its cool. The stick is capable of handling 4K media too and is super for gaming. Only issue is that its system partition is 1GB (stupid vendor).. now I need to find safe way of re-partitioning it as RK based SOCs have their own way of ROM handling.

Btw, if you get TV stick, make sure it comes with BT, as number of USB ports are limited on such sticks, using BT you can connect mouse + keyboard thus not using any usb port. You can connect Hdd to it or other gadgets.
