AMD Phemon II 550 is it still good, which motherboard

hi friend

i had assembled this config sometime back for my uncle

AMD Phenom 2 Black edition 550 3.1 Ghz
MSI GF615M-P33 - Dead
Corsair 2 x 4 GB DDR 3 RAM
Corsair VX 450w
Liteon DVD writer
WD 500 GB HDD
DELL FHD 22" LCD monitor
XFX GTS 250 Core 512 MB graphic card
Logitech Multimedia Keyboard and mouse Rs 700
A Xtech mid tower cabinet - Will Change

the Motheboard gave lots of problem and it died now, i am seeking suggestion whether the processor is stil considered good today, and if yes which motherboard should i get so it can also be used with future processor

also do AM3+ socket mobo support AM3 processor like this, i have separate thread for a new config, but what if i just change the motherboard and keep all other stuff same

I won't vouch for a old phenom II dual core cpu - it's good bnut if you can unlock it to a quad core cpu only or else if you have the budget get a FX6300+Asus M5a97 R2.0 which should cost you around~14.5k and will offer great performance increse over your current config.

AM3+ socket mobo supports AM3 cpus.

What is the budget for your motherboard and cpu? so that i can suggest you a good one for u...

budget is upto 13k for motherboard and cpu, i have 2x 4gb ddr3 ram

is not there any intel option available or any APU

dude phenom lineup is long gone........
current AMD lineup is FX, and FX 6300 is enough for OPs needs.
