AMD and Win 9x

AMD 2800+. MSIK8MM MB, WindowsXP easily got installed in this system and runs without any problem, but Win98/ME though gets installed without any hitch does not run. Can anybody say why.

What happens after installation/what appears on screen after installation/does the system while booting to Win98 halts?
Normally,AMD 2800 (or for that matter any AMD) does not have any problem with Win98.
See,XP is more stable against bad/incorrect driver installations of peripherals than 98.if in Win98 if u have installed drivers incorrectly for peripherals such as Modems then while booting to 98 system hangs/restarts.
