Hi Guys,

I have 160GB segate HDD.
Normally when you make partions the CD drive takes the last drive letter in the sequence.
for e.g:- I have made 3 partition C,D,E & F then logically G should be CD-Drive.
But my CD drive is D.
Can someone explain me why so?

Regards,
Irfan

Did u create other partitions after installing windows???
bcoz if u create a partition after installing windows, it'll only get the drive letter which is available at that time. Windows will not automatically assign CD drive the last letter in the sequence!

PS: U can change the drive letter from Computer Management.

If you create or modify partitions after installing Windows, then this is what happens!!
@Vishal is absolutely right. Even I had the same strange thing happening in my PC.
I modified the partitions. So instead of CD drive being the last in the sequence, it
was one before the last one!!

Come get Some
right click on my computer
from storage choose disk management
from here you can rectify the drive name problem
right click on the drive (to be changed) then choose "change drive letter and path" then remove the drive letter and assign the new one (in some cases you need to restart as if you may be using the drive to be changed)
i.e remove the drive letter and then assign them sequence.

(Same can be done with CD/DVD Drives)
thats it Bro.
