Back to school!!
It's ELAN really. All synaptic laptops are fine. Or get ELAN and get it replaced.
Are all ELAN's bad? My friend got one(Y500) locally last month, I checked it last night, it has ELAN, the touchpad issue is a simple registry problem, his mouse was freezing during typing, so disabled a registry key, got it fixed, there are a plethora of options under ELAN registry key, editing them will circumvent most driver related issues. Exactly what is the issue with Y500 and ELANs?

Random haphazard movements of the touchpad, no response at times is what I've heard.
Well the second issue is due to touchpad disable when typing, can be fixed via registry, the other issue is probably due to charge leakage.
