First sign up at google adsense.
After verification you will be sent a mail. following that copy paste the provided H TML code in your site.
your done.

You can apply for adsense from adsense.google.com .

They will review your website and if found suitable and approved, you will get login details for adsense account in your mailbox.

Then you can login to adsense from adsense.google.com and there you can generate code for adsense ads, referral buttons which you can put in your webpages...
