Dear friends,

I have movies on my hard disk in different formats (avi, rvmb, mov, vob etc). I want to burn these movies so that i can play them on my DVD player.

I have seen DVDs with 5 movies in one disc. Please tell me how can I achieve the same.

Thanks!

if ur dvd player supports playing DivX encoded files, just convert all movies to .avi and burn on dvd like a data disc. most players support .avi (DivX) files

Converting to DivX is a great Idea.
I have a self burned DVD at home having 6 1CD Rip Divx Movies all in excellent quality and plays flawlessly on my 2 year old DVD Player

No. It doesn't support DivX.

and yes, it is possible. I have seen dvds of latest movies. the format is .vob but in compressed form. I don't know how they do it.

even iam facing a similar prob.... now with the broadband i have enough movies in avi format but i want to make dvd and keep it safe .... but the prob is how to make a dvd movie which fits in single layer dvd coz most of the softwares around bloat the size to some 12 gb or so when i try to convert it.

try using Nero Vision. It can convert multiple avi, vob files into a single dvd with menus easily.
u will have to compromise on some quality though if ur gonna fit 5 divx movies on a single dvd5. also i Dont know if it supports real or quicktime format though.

If you have a broadband connection and have downloaded several movies in Divx / Xvid (.avi) format then i suggest DO NOT convert into DVD format as it is of no use. I suggest better buy a new DVD player supporting Divx since they are quite cheap now.
Its not worth the time and effort you spend on doing the conversion.

do you mean that if i write those video files just as a data on a dvd with rest of my data files(such as exe, doc etc etc) even then the video files can be played on the div x player

you may use DVD to AVI (xvid/ divx / MP4 / H264) encoding !! if you have a 17" Display with 1280x800 working resoltuion 1 CD DVD_RIP would be fine :) means a 700 Movie without much of quality loss..

You may try combination of DVD Decrypter + AutoGK !!! there are hudreds of Tutorial available or you may try one of this on How to Make DVD to 700 MB RIP link also :)

Yes thats correct !!!
I have a DVD having 5 movies
3 are in Xvid 1 CD Rip format (.AVI FILES)
1 in .vob (extracted from a pirated DVD)
1 in .mpg forrmat

i am able to play all of them in my mitashi DVD player.
The player shows an explorer like interface and you can select the movie and play it.

it is better to buy a dvd palyer supporting divx having ubb port so u can see films stored in the usb

The lowest rate i have seen is 1.5k supporting dvix and usb port and works flawlessly

Just use a dual layer DVD and a Lite-On DVD Writer

The player is 2 years old and of Mitashi Brand. Divx was quite new then. But now most of the sub 5K players support Divx (and hence also XviD). I suggest you can go for LG, they have a good lineup. You can get cheap players like Weston too and they Do work very well but i dont know how reliable they are for long term use. But yes keep the USB port thing in mind before buying because. LG has come up recently with a USB support player but since its a new launch its a little expensive. I suggest diwali is round the corner so check out deals across electronic shops in your city and bring home a new DVD player this Diwali !!! :)

ok... i think time for me now to change my dvd player. This usb thing reminds me of one cable which i have. The cable has AV connectors at one end and the other end has S-video pin. now my laptop has S-video out port as well but when i connect this cable to connect my laptop and TV nothing happens.
can anyone tell me what is the reason

@hansraj

i think this is was expected. Because you cannot directly connect your computer to TV. May be you need to have an intermediate transcoder. I think the AV pins that you have may be working as follows:
The AV side goes to output of the DVD player and the S-video side as an input to the TV so that it is possible to use the DVD player with TVs not having the composite video (3 cables) option. But i am not sure about this.
Please someone correct me if i am wrong.
