My friend needs to buy a phone, budget ~20k(+2 max). Currently he is using Xperia U

I suggested N4 8GB / Xperia SP......... but still he is leaning towards Optimus G E970

I dont think you will get optimus G Around 20K. Your Best bet woulf Be Xperia SP as it have better Battery and Storage expansion options IMO. Nexus 4 is also a good choice if you dont mind mentioned cons.

I think sp would be a nice choice.
Personally, Nexus4's limited storage is big NO for me.

its a 50-50 for me between optimus G & SP.
I chose SP only for the reason that sony releases updates considerably faster than LG.

He is tempted due to 2GB RAM + he doesn't need official updates(custom ROM). He is fine with ServePro warranty

My friend ordered the LG Optimus G E970 from eBay yesterday............

For all those whose are thinking E970 as normal intl version G, then i must say its not. Its actually AT&T version of G with 8MP camera, 16GB int. mem. + SD card slot. Rest of specs is same. Dimensions are bit different too

It's 26,500 now, a friend of mine got.


E970 is a great phone but almost all the people I know won't risk buying an AT&T version. Xperia SP is a better choice for such people.

Actually he is not a dumb person(in terms of knowledge of these things). He bought AT&T version because of 2GB RAM. Since LG is a big company, there should not be any problems with the phone(according to him......)

Got the phone now...........will post some pics n benchmarks afterwards
