I got a lens cleaner cd but the problem is still there. I think that the drive is not playing the cd at all. When i put in the cd, the drive light blinks few times n then abruptly stops, whereas in usual cases it blinks continuously until cd/dvd is read.

I haven't been able to get the cd -thats because of time. Actually, I m not able to come online 2 so the prob persists. By the way, y'day was sunday. I should have done it!!:mad:

No my prob is stilll persisting. I haven't been able to get a lens cleaner cd till now. Though I will love to do the lens cleaning myself, but due to lack of time I have requested a mechanic to do it. He is due anytime now. I hope that it solves the problem otherwise:(

why are u risking ur new writer with cheap media? try out better - quality media from Sony/HP. if that doesn't solve the problem, take out the drive and claim a replacement/repair from ur reseller. Must be under warranty. Just don't tell hem u used cheap media

avg is trash. Has all sorts of problems. Even if ur computer is virus-infected it sometimes won't detect it and when it will, it will not allow u to either delete it or quarantine it. I am using Avast! 4.6 which works very well and has kept my system trouble-free.
