Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday made a sweeping pitch to the automobile industry: India could unlock Rs 40,000 crore in Goods and Services Tax (GST) if all of the country’s 97 lakh unfit and polluting vehicles were scrapped. Speaking at the ACMA Annual Session 2025, as per the PTI report, Gadkari said that the massive cleanup drive would not just boost government revenues but also create 70 lakh jobs and strengthen India’s push to become the world’s number one automobile industry within five years.

He also earlier said India would have better highways than USA by 2024

People just say, "he was the most honest minister" but all he does is have good PR.

Social media influencers are literally being paid to promote E20. All while, his sons own one of the biggest ethanol producing companies.

Yea for a while ago I had only positive things to say about him. Not so much now.
Whatever happened to the petition to remove only those vehicles who actually fail at pollution checks.

I have Venue Nline. I used to get around 12-14kmpl before July in Bangalore traffic AC on. Now i get 7 to 9 Kmpl. That's a drastic reduction in fuel economy.
Now I am filling up only premium petrol to save the engine life. XP95 is giving me the mileage I used to get before E20.
I also used to feel like he is a visionary.

What is the advantage for running E20 otherwise? Fuel economy is not one of them obviously, but what about emissions?

Perhaps we are running out of oil supply and this is a way to hedge against it?

If by just adding 20% ethanol I am getting half mileage, it is leading to more fuel consumption. Then we will run out of supply soon.
