Config:
Amd ryzen 5 3400g
Asrock b450 pro 4
ADATA XPG Gammix 8GB X 2
256gb Mx500
500gb bx500
2tb wd blue
4tb wd blue
Corsair cx450
Corsair carbide spic delta

from the beginning of this month, sometimes it switches on and sometimes it doesn't (for many days). i noticed one thing - when it starts after this dead episode, it shows an incorrect time. cmos battery is new, installed just a month back. day before yesterday (after a 10days dead episode), it was disassembled, new thermal paste applied and reassembled. it worked that day. when i tried yesterday evening, it didn't start. today after left power on for some 1 hour, it started and showed the time 00.44. as usual, i tried to sync the time but it says sync failed which worked just day before yesterday when it worked after reassembly and showed a time 10 days before. Internet is working. i felt it on for some time and it synced the time.
now i am sure it is motherboard issue. What is a good option in B550 or B450?
Thanks

Confirm that it's your motherboard before buying. You don't want to find it later that it's not motherboard or not just motherboard. Officially B550 doesn't support 3400G but despite that many B550 is compatible with 3400G, confirm with the seller before buying. Else you gotta stick with B450. I generally prefer a board with 4 RAM slots and heatsinks on the VRMs. Gigabyte DS3H and MSI PRO VDH, both fits this criteria (both B450 and 550).

thanks. i will visit local market on monday to check if they have a board to spare for a day or two. problem is that everyone says how to identify any issue when it is working. it started after an hour in the morning and worked fine for around 1 1/2 hours. i went out, came back at 5pm and it refused to switch on. i left the ups on and it started at around 7.10pm and works fine. anyone who sees this says the same thing. day before yesterday it worked for over 4-5 hours without any issue.
another issue i noticed since day before yesterday that when i am working on facebook, if a click on any image to open it, it shows a black rectangle sort which flickers for a second and then shows the image.
worst part is that when i called up compuworld, the official service centre for asrock motherboard, the lady said they don't deal in computer. i sent an email to asrock over 10 days ago but they have not responded till now. i fail to understand why people suggest such a company where there is no after sales support. may be this is the reason that everyone here sells gigabyte and msi boards only.

Yours is a good board, feature rich, VRM thermal test was very good for the price, so it's obvious that it was suggested among other models. It was one of the top in my list, after I couldn't source B350M D3H, I really wanted to get that one when I was buying back in 2018. I think it was out of stock and/or I had to pay some more for it than PRO VDH.

features are ok but we all need to understand that it is an electronic item and might require after sales support which if is absent or bad renders your item useless and you a frustrated person. just have a look at their auto response in which they want the customer to discuss it with the dealer mainly / only.

I guess in many places customer service is like that. Even when the an actual person is replying, all we get is a template reply. Whatever the complaint, just the same response which irritates us a lot.

i agree. i remember over 20 years back, my old dealer got a seagate hdd replaced in 2 hours. recent adata xpg gammix experience is excellent.
