have u enabled Taskbar autohide option, if yes then try disabling that, also try uninstalling IDM, or any other download manager, (for temporary check)

u said win 7 ate ur xp, means u had installed win 7, over win xp, no logic here that u r unable to boot, bt in case u are use EasyBCD (free version) to reconfigure ur boot, (or say set dual-boot) and 1 thing EasyBCD doesn't work with Windows XP

can you upload screen shot of your MSI Graphic Controller Utility, there should be an option like "Scale with Fixed Aspect Ratio" if u could find urself,, otherwise plz upload screenshot of MSI utility. because in google image search there are many different type software for configuring properties

Personally suggesting DropBox is much better then SkyDrive, first of all its not platform limited,, skydrive only support win 7/8 one of my laptop also have win xp, so I move to Dropbox (it support windows xp,7,8,vista, linux,mac), its much light-weightier then SkyDrive, and more controls...

u r talking about dissociation, not changing association you can do it by following method go to Windows Registry Editor (WinKey + R >> then type regedit >> hit Enter) HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT >> expand this >> look for the extension which u want to dissociate, delete its default value, DONE
