well u will have to reinstall program....if u made some configuration changes in a program u will have to copy its configuration file and paste it newly installed programs directory......same goes for saved games, bookmarks, password etc hmmm...good one !! :D

try to boot from pen drive (ubuntu) maybe...if boots ur cd drive went kaput...if doesnt ..well carry on the hunt..

get avira rescue system burn it on disk ...and boot and scan from it ... also u can use bitdefender rescue cd ....

well, he'ill need a dedicated graphic card(mid to econmy range but preferably with 512 ram ) and all the system ram he can afford (8gb is a norm in pro pc but 4gb will also do)..also two hard disk setup is highly recommended ...second hard can be (and should be) used as a scratch disk ...

two different stick with diffrent speed is usually not a good thing....get a ram stick from ur friend ...if his is 667 then put it in ur pc with ur 667...if everything works buy 1 more ram stick or get a new mobo (cause it should also fully work with ur 553 and 667 but RMA ppl may ask u to put...

there would be an option in the bios also for not shuting down the pc when a fan fails ...disable it and if ur pc constantly afterward then it means its overheating

hey!! i think i have only one primary partition on each of my drive ... i have pretty much emptied out d:/ so i think i am gona wipe it out and install on it .... i thing guys...do the swap partion of linux needs to be an empty partition (with no data in it ) .... and can i change its...

one more thing guys ... my hard disc already has 4 partitions ...if i make this one, there will be 5 ..also it seems that linux install will make 3 partition on its own ..so ill end up having 7 partition...but i read somwhere that u cant make more then 4 ....now what to do ???

greetings , i wish to install pclinuxos minime on my hard disc but i have a situation.. i want to install linux on second hard drive (slave).....but the first partition on this drive has some data on it which i dont want to move any where else cause i dont have the space and i am too cheap...

u should try and burn another dvd from a different company (example moserbyer)...if it burns and read correctly that means there nothing wrong with ur dvd drive ...it just dont like sony :D... if it doesnt then it means something is wrong with the drive ...u can start by cleaning the leans ...

well that option is for those ppl who likes to check the the media (cd/dvd) after burning...nothing else ..it has nothing to do with ur problem... u say u u checked the content ...it means u opend them (example if they were mp3 u played them)??? right ...if so then its odd ...it doesnt happen...
