Hi Everyone,
I have a PC with Intel E8400 processor, 4GB GSkill RAM, Corsair VX450W PSU, Asus P5Q Pro Motherboard, APC Back UPS-AVR500 UPS and a Palit ATI HD Radeon4850 graphics card.
I'm having a problem from last night. Before that my PC was running fine. When i start my pc, i get no display. The monitor LED just keeps on flashing on and off! Also when i press the power button, the processor and the graphics card starts, this i found out after looking at the fan speeds of both. But then it turns off for about 10 seconds and then starts again. But even then i get no display. Another thing is that, today i found out that the Asus P5Q Pro motherboard has no socket to plug in the monitor without the graphics card!!! Could you please tell me what could be the problem. I have a presentation to make and without my PC I'm helpless! Please help!

That's one heck of rig. But will a 450W PSU be enough for such a monster? How long has it been since you assembled this rig?

dont forget to check the CMOS battery....it is the main culprit in such cases...especially with Asus MBs

I am using the PC for a month now with no problems what-so-ever!!! :)
All of a sudden this problem showed up!!!

No I have no idea what the problem could be!!! I have shifted the RAM from one slot to another but it didn't help. PSU could be an issue although i don't have any idea about how to check that it is working or not!!!!I'll check the batteries as well and let you know!!!! Could it be the processor????

I think the problem is with the graphics card.Just try cleaning it and put is back in the slot then try again.Make sure all the connections are ok.

That must be a HELL of a problem cause u made this thread at 3am in the mornin'.

Check if the plugs are correctly installed. I mean the 4850 to mobo, and monitor to 4850, and lastly check that your power connections internally are proper. Nxt up is to check if itz a dust problem, but itz not likely anywayz. Hmm, can u even enter boot? Oh th monitor doesn't start.gosh lemme thing

Man the main problem is the I broke my PC Speaker while assembling the PC!!! :( :(

So i can even hear the beeps!!!

Beeps are a very good indication as to what's wrong!!! So i cant give you any clues about that as well!!! :(

The problem has really got me pissed off!!! I have my presentation due soon and the f*@$ing PC let me down at just the worst time possible!!!!

Hmm, temporarily try to arrange for anything else. Letz see. Well, last time my PC did that, it started the nxt day to say that it was due to THERMAL OVERHEATING. But i dun think itz possible in a new PC.

It could be due to the overheating. Install programs like Speedfan and use them to monitor the temperatures. If you notice anything too high, you know it's due to overheating. And, try all the suggestions mentioned above.

Did you mess with the BIOS recently? Clear CMOS battery if you haven't already. It would be very hard to say where the problem lies without hearing those beep patterns :|

I recently had a similar problem.I have a MSI P35 neo combo motherboard.i upgraded the BIOS and after that i didnt get any display at all.I solved the issue by resetting the jumper and by just removing and putting back the battery. And it worked.Even my system starts and stops once or twice before it boots properly.

I checked.... its the CMOS Battery!!!

I just took it out and started the PC without the Battery and PC booted fine!!! Its happens everytime i shut down the PC completely!!! Does this mean my Battery is dead or the Battery Slot is gone???? Should i change the battery???

I knew it man..its a typical ASUS problem..change the CMOS cell and if it happens again then you may need to reset the BIOS...keep your fingers crossed...:D..

BTW how old is your MB..
