Budget phone for Senior Citizen

M4 Pro is now @ 12k, after offer 11.3k not 10.5k as they claim. I was expecting better than this, now I am in dilema whether I should I go ahead and place the order or wait and hope for a better deal in the coming months/sale around dushera/diwali.
IF you need a phone now, get the best one now during the sale. Else wait, till the Diwali sale.

Currently she is using Redmi 4 and she is not keen on the new one. At this point I am the one more interested in getting the new phone. I wanted to get it now, when the sale started I had 1k short in the account. I have added fund, just so close to placing the order and now I am in dilema.
Whether I should get it now or later and would I get similar or better offer around dushera/diwali, that kinda dilema. May be if they didn't show that 10.5k deal in the offer page I would have gone ahead. About 10 days ago, the sale price before offer were better than this.

One of my friend works in a mobile repair shop and recently we had a chat. I was telling him about the idea of buying a new phone and my choices and he said no to POCO budget variants and suggested me to go for Realme but not Narzo series. After hearing about my criteria (IR blaster and all), he said better to relax those criteria. He is not okay with Redmi and Motorola either. And warned about AMOLED displays and it's more prone to give issues and costs more to fix. With budget variants it's not worth the repair cost.
But I am still keen on M4 Pro.

Could you elaborate on the Motorola issues?

Don't worry, it's his view. He feels it doesn't age well. He is a gamer, so just assume the kinda expectation he has on phones. The phone I am looking is for my mom who is a light user in comparison.

He sees many Redmi/Poco phones comes to them for repair so the reason for steering me away from them esp. budget models.

Big billion sale sneak peek shows D810 equipped Realme, Infinix phones with offers comes down under 11k. POCO is normally priced lower than them, expecting M4 Pro very likely to come under 11k :Fingerx:

I got curious when M5 launced, with G99 SoC and LCD screen (bit skeptical about AMOLED after I read about the panel's longevity et al) but the spec wasn't good. No secondary noise cancellation mic, single speaker. Even Redmi 11 Prime lacks the same. I would have to give up a lot if I don't want AMOLED (M4 Pro vs M5). Still eyeing M4 Pro, haven't seen any offers for this one in the last one week or so.

Definitely don't buy M32 4G for 15k, I bought it for 13k for my aunt a year ago. It's a little off. The Samsung F23 5G sacrifices the screen but is a superior phone from Samsung.
Not sure why you replied to me, that too by editing message that I posted earlier

Poco M4 5G should be within 11k easily IMO, will suffice. D700 vs D810 is not a big jump. You likely don't need the better cam as well. M5 lacks 5G, so better get a 5G phone when a decent one is available.

Sorry my mistake. Since both the M4 Pro costs the same (15k), it's likely that both will come under 11k. My eyes are on 4G variant. 5G variant didn't made it to the shortlist as it lacks dedicated slot. On second thought, if I have to avoid AMOLED, yes M4 5G would make sense. Would be missing dual speaker and 33w support.

I doubt a senior citizen needs AMOLED. Anyways, your call. See what else might get huge discounts.

She is been using HD LCD display, I want her to have a better one than that, and read AMOLED is better. So the reason for eyeing for M4 Pro and also price difference isn't much. But after reading about it's longevity and the cost of repair (if need arises), I am thinking of considering IPS LCD equipped phone. Top contenders in that are M4 5G and M5, but those two lacks some of the key features like no secondary noise cancellation mic, single speaker, 18w charge support (vs 33w of M4 Pro). My guess is all these three would cost the same after discounts and offers in the coming sale. I am just weighing whether it's worth giving up these features to avoid AMOLED.

We will likely know the offer/discounted price of M4 Pro before the end of the day :Fingerx: Let's see.

Looks like the offers ain't good for the Poco, not even as good as it was in August. :( Will see if anything changes when it goes live.

I have been watching FK BB day sale sneak peek, but looks like it didn't get any update for the last couple of days. Thought something broken at their end, just googled and found if the Xiaomi offers are revealed. At first I thought the Xiaomi offers and the POCO ones (which I have seen and it was working up until Poco reveal day), are fake and photoshopped snapshots of the offers because I didn't see them. Later I found out that the web page isn't showing all the offers, but their FK mobile app shows all the offers and the last two days reveal of iphone and Xiaomi's offers.

M4 Pro is quoted under 10k with all offers which yet to go live. Bigger discount is only for credit card which I don't have. I may not get it under 10k, but it's alright I will likely get it under 11k. Tried to find a decent IPS display phone (if I decide not to go for AMOLED) which fits my crtteria but couldn't find a perfect one. I have to compromise on one or other, G32 looks decent enough. If not M4 Pro, that should do. Thought about Redmi 10 (expecting to be priced around 9k incl. offers), but single mic, single speaker, no IR blaster, HD+ display and 10w charger. That feels like too much compromise. It's likely M4 Pro, else G32. Will pull the trigger as soon as sales go live.

Don't keep Poco M5 & M4 5G together. Former lacks 5G. M5 has better cams, but again, I doubt cam or AMOLED would matter much. Can say same for 5G as well though. G32 at 10k looks great honestly, clean stock OS is good to have.

The concern I have with AMOLED are it's life and it's cost of repair (if need arises). Other than that I am okay with that. I don't know if I am overly concerned about AMOLED display. When I started this thread, I thought AMOLED would be better than the one she uses now and wanted to have it in the phone I am gonna buy, but now I am considering IPS panel. Would be much better if there is a clone version of this sans AMOLED.

Roughly both M4 Pro and G32 gonna costs me the same. M4 Pro is clearly better in pretty much every front, so I am leaning towards that.

Trying to find out what kinda storage is used in G32. There isn't much information, googling suggests it's UMPC. Further googling doesn't say how it's compared with UFS 2.2.

Its only con is display, but that TFT panel is IPS LCD level & still good for the price. Rest, overall a great phone IMO. No other SoC comes close to S750G at this price point.

Yeah, I saw that listing. Surprised to see the big price drop, Samsung wasn't even in my radar. And M33 5G with credit card offers also come under 11k (I don't know if that's some bug in offers or I am not calculating right). This is the offer for M33 5G, (or atleast this is how I calculated)
14500 - 1050 - 1250 - 10% = 10980/-

They don't come with charger, that's a bummer.

I will pick F23 5G over M33 5G because of more efficient SoC, S750G. Exynos SoCs are a blind no go for me.

After lot of deliberation went with M4 Pro. Flipkart terms and condition sucks. Hope everything goes fine.
