Windows 10 refusing to boot -hardware or software issue?

I have Windows 10 installed on my system and it had been working fine until now.

Yesterday evening I had started my computer but did not enter the Sign-In details at Windows startup as I had some work to do. My system remained at sign-in screen and then went into sleep mode. When I returned to my computer I saw that it was showing message that my System drive has some errors and that I need to restart it to fix the errors.

Now when I restarted the system I got the message that my system drive (Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe) is being scanned for errors - but it never happens and the system restarts. It then goes under Automatic Windows Repair mode but then the system again restarts doing nothing. I tried using Windows Startup Repair option but if fails to do anything. I then opted for system restore option but I again get the message that the system drive has errors and needs to be fixed before System Restore can work. But when I try to run disk scan it fails to find errors. Interestingly during the scan message it shows my C: drive as Games drive whereas I have D: drive as Games drive. It confused me further.

Is there any way to scan my Samsung SSD since i cannot enter Windows and use Samsung Magician software? What else can I do?

Try booting from a Windows install USB and access the command prompt from it. Then you can try to scan your drive from there.

You will have to make the bootable USB from another machine though since your current machine is not bootable.

Well I did that but it didn't solve the problem. Then I tried to uninstall latest updates installed but even that gave some errors and didn't work. Frustrated I thought of going for Reset options and exited the recovery console. To my surprise - Windows booted normally!

What the hell had happened is still a mystery to me.....

Windows & its classic issues. No wonder corporates prefer Mac. After using macOS, I will still prefer Win10 for the features. But mac is considered much more stable.
