Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition

Legend Never Ends
Fianlly, Rockstar have confirmed it and posted a official teaser. Here it is:

Later this month marks a very special anniversary for Rockstar Games: 20 years since the original release of Grand Theft Auto III — the game that set players loose in the sprawling, three-dimensional metropolis of Liberty City with a new and unprecedented sense of freedom and immersion. In addition to carving a new path for the open world genre, Grand Theft Auto III established Grand Theft Auto as a cultural phenomenon, alongside its two subsequent — and equally legendary — entries in the series, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the Grand Theft Auto fans who have supported the games over the past two decades. Your love and appreciation for these games has helped push the Grand Theft Auto series forward with every iteration.

These gems look so cartoonish if one looks at them after playing GTA V. Great great games nevertheless.

with everyone else jumping onto the remastering bandwagon,i suppose the execs at rockstar felt that they too shouldn't "miss" this opportunity and make hay while the sun still shines (or in this case while their older games still have some life left in them)-the result of it is this so-called definitive edition!

Cheap cash grabs, these remasters.

Noice. If they work on GFX quality esp. For old games worth paying for imo.
That will be called a remake, like the Mafia Definitive Edition. Those are surely worth it IMO. Hopefully, GTA VC & SA can get a remake treatment.

True in a sense, but Mafia: Definitive edition was done so well so makes me hope for this also. Rumoured to be re-mastered in Unreal engine so have my hopes up. Probably won't be so well/changed though but still worth the nostalgia splurge :p

How so... Gtx 970 came out 7 years back. And that's the recommended one. Gtx 760 is even older.

Considering how old those 3 games are & having PS4/XB1 like requirements are high for a remaster, understandable for a proper remake. Maybe poor optimizations due to remastering old games.

RX570 is similar to the GPU of PS4 pro & XB1X.

But they're not shipping the same games. See how mafia definitive edition is. That won't even run at 60fps on GTX 1000 series at 1080p.

It's not about the age rather they're remaking in a new engine (Unreal). So ofcourse you can't expect them to run on Pentium 3 and old Nvidia GPUs

See - Remasters are cheap cash grabs, like Mass Effect or Mafia 2 & remakes are proper remake like Mafia Definitive edition.

Ubisoft named their Prince of persia remaster as a "remake" & was downvoted a lot for their BS. I doubt R* will name a remake a remaster, they are a greedy company who will not want to miss on marketing. So I'm expecting just a bit better graphics than original games with same mechanics & all (unlike how Mafia changed mechanics as well). They will likely use the same old textures, just at higher quality, hence poor optimization & stuff.

Also, like many games the requirements might just be listed as higher than required, as I said, those req meet XB1/PS4 & XB1X/PS4 pro. Or maybe min is for 1080p ultra 60fps & recommended for 4K 60fps, not 1080p med 30fps & 1080p ultra 60fps like others.

All those are just speculations on my part. Time will tell what R* delivers.
