1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)
40k INR (A friend is coming from US who will buy it there but I have a rough budget of 40k INR)

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
14 or 15.6

3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
Use case will be really basic- online classes for kids, normal office work and very light gaming mainly minecraft.

5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
None

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

a. Like: Asus
b. Dislike: Acer (Had a really bad experience with them)

6) Anything else you would like to say?
  • Battery back up - normal (3-4hrs)
  • Since kids will be using it, it should preferably have very good build quality to handle their rough usage.
  • Purchase place - USA (not sure if he'll buy locally or from amazon or similar stores)

Maybe get this with 2 years of premium warranty for international warranty support:
New Inspiron 14 Laptop

Or maybe this:

Get at least i5 10th gen or Ryzen 5 4500U based laptops with 8GB RAM & 256GB SSD.

I'll check the dell model, the second model which is 2 in 1 might not be suitable for my use case as the hinges might get damage easily due to rough usage by kids. Also both kind of looks a bit overkill for my use case, but I am assuming it future proof it because of that?

Honestly, R3/i3 CPU, 8GB RAM & SSD laptop is enough for normal usage. Yes, it will help with futureproofing to have a quad core CPU or better. For light gaming, prefer Ryzen powered ones.

Prefer this for light gaming:

Dell one is good if you want warranty, iGPU is weaker.
