1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.' Vague answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work.)

Gaming and casual browsing. Far Cry 5, COD Black Ops Cold war, COD Warzone, Cyberpunk, Resident Evil all in at least 1080P settings.

I have a stone age old PC would like to use whatever I can from it.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then please mention.

Want to do it in two parts due to cash flow.
30-35k for Processor + Mobo + RAM. Planning to get this in a month.
30-35k later for GPU. Planning to buy in 6 months.
Can extend 5k, if required only if absolutely required on top of 35k in both parts.

3. Planning to overclock?

No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?

Windows 10

5. How much hard drive / solid-state drive space is needed?

I have Seagate 500GB Hard drive wanted to use it and maybe get 500GB or 1 TB later. Interested to buy SSD but it’s optional can wait on this and get when I will purchase GPU.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention the screen size and resolution you prefer. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, then do mention the screen size and resolution of the monitor you have

No, I have 2 LG Full HD monitors (22MP68VQ) which are used for office work, planning to use them for now and planning to purchase a bigger screen and better resolution for the desktop next year.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy? i.e. which components you already have and plan on reusing?

Point #11 below have the list of the current component. From those, I believe I can use these.
  • Monitor
  • PSU – Corsair CX 500V2 (assuming it will work with whatever the current specs I chose)
  • Cabinet – Cooler Master K380
  • Seagate 500GB Hard Drive
  • GPU – Sapphire Radeon HD 6770. Will it work with current setup?
8. When are you planning to buy the system?

In a month for Processor + Mobo + RAM. GPU in another 6 months.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before? Or, will this be done by an assembler?

Yes, I can assemble it myself.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?

Lucknow, UP. Ready to buy offline and online both.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?

The current setup is as below -

Processor - AMD Phenom 960T

Motherboard - ASUS M5A 78L-M LX

Monitor - 2 LG 22 inch Full HD (22MP68VQ)

PSU - Corsair CX500V2

GPU - Sapphire Radeon HD 6770

Keyboard - Logitech MK200 KB + Mouse

The current setup was working well and one fine day it showed a “Chassis intruded’ error while booting which I am unable to fix even after trying few tricks after searching it from google.

Tried resetting CMOS, was able to reach BIOS options but there was no option to disable the Chassis intrusion feature. Also checked on the motherboard but there is no pin on it for me to put a jumper on. Right now, I am unable to use it for normal browsing and stuff as well.

I was working out of town and had my roommate's PS4 there so it was working well for me as far as gaming was concerned. Now since I am back in my hometown I miss that and want to upgrade.

i5 11400 (with igpu u can go for 11400f maybe if u dont want an igpu) 17k max
hyper x fury cl16 ddr4 8gb* 2 - 8.8k
asrock b560 pro4- 11.6k(these are all online prices u can get lower prices offline)
this will be 37400 total but u can buy just one 8gb ram if u wanna save 4.4 k

there is an amd 4650 g oem processor which u can get in some sites for the same price and amd mobo has lower prices than intel(with the igpu )
lastly we'll get amd 5600g in august 5th but i think it will cost more and i dont think u should buy a gpu for now just use it to buy 5700g(this one can run alot of games at 1080p see some gaming benchmarks video) or just save it i'm saying igpu ones bcoz even if gpu will be in stock u'll be paying quiet alot for it for a long time *just my opinion

CPU - Intel i5 10400 - 16.5k*

Mobo - Gigabyte B560M DS3H - 9.5k

RAM - 2x8GB DDR4 3200MHz - 7.5k

GPU - Your HD6770, in case it fails, CPU has iGPU

M.2 SSD - WD SN550/Kingston A2000 500GB - 5k

HDD - Your 500GB

PSU - Yours for now**

Cabinet - Yours

Monitor - Yours

Total - 38.5k

Future purchase:
* i5 11400 for 20k is a good buy but availability is rare. Not available online but I know that small sellers have it. Ask sellers here: AkExtacY - Cheapest PC Parts Marketplace
Make sure you go to BIOS & unlock the power limit. Those i5s are rated at 65W but its max boost clock consumes ~120W. By default, the CPU will run at max performance for like 30-40s then throttle to 65W. You can unlock the power limit via BIOS, will net ~40-50% better performance.
** Corsair CV650 80+ bronze - 5k (recommended when you get a GPU, if things turn out well, maybe an RTX 3060)

CPU cooler : ARCTIC Freezer 34 Esports Duo - 4.4k
or Deepcool GAMMAXX 400 Pro - 2.5k

Thanks @K_akash_i and @omega44-xt for your suggestions.

these look promising, just a couple of questions.
1) Shall I wait for AMD5600G till August considering I will be able to run games on it though in low settings compared to running Intel specs with my current GPU?
2) Just wondering if I go with any other AMD specs (without G, like Ryzen 5 3600) which don't have an iGPU, will HD6770 will be compatible and do the job of providing the display until I get my hands on another graphic card. I know if any day my graphic card decides not to work I will again have an inoperable system but just wanted to check if it is still compatible.

Both options are fine.

HD 6770 will work with Ryzen 5 3600. I don't know about the state of Windows 10 driver, though.

Note that 5600G's iGPU is HD 6950~ level, I think.

3600 is like some years old so even if its an ozm processor i wouldnt suggest that.get a new processor non apu variant model. 5600x is kinda high price now so it would be intel 11th gen i5 11400f that would suit u but yea u should get a b560 which has options to toggle off the power limit so it works fine

1. Your call. I'm not sure how 6770 performs vs AMD's Vega8 iGPU.

2. Definitely yes. But its old, who knows when it will fail. Also, i5 11400 is better than R5 3600 is all respects except for power efficiency. The i5 10400 lags a bit behind in productivity but with XMP, should perform a bit better than R5 3600 or similar. You need B560 for XMP, B460 doesn't support it.

Thanks!
I will scout the offline market here to check the rates and availability for the specs mentioned here, this weekend or next .

due to the weekend lockdown here, I was unable to go to the market but was able to get few rates over the phone.

11400 is nowhere to be found and only 11400f/11500 and 11600k is available
AMD Ryzen 4650g is available for 19425 online and 18400 offline. shall i go with this since the above is not available anywhere?
AMD Ryzen 5 5600x is available for 26,200 minimum, worth considering?

Ask Anang Surve at that fb group. He had i5 11400 some time back. How much is i5 11500? Some online sellers have i5 11600K for 24.5k or so.

Since R5 4650G is just 3600 with iGPU, I don't think its a great option. For 20-21k, I'd pick i5 11th gen. 5600X is good, just a bit expensive.

I5-11500 was 25k and I6-11600k was 26k quoted by offline seller.
On fb group, I have reached out to that post from May, didn't get a response. I think it's no more in stock with him.

u can subscribe in sites like ezpzsolutions who will email u when the processor will be available. 4650g isnt bad but it has low amount of cache when u compare it with i5 11400. i will update the post when i find one is available.

Mobo - Gigabyte B560M DS3H is this a good mobo for 11400? A friend is getting 11400 for 16K for this same PC requirement. Any other mobo you can suggest as cheap as possible apart from AsRock?

K_akash_i

Journeyman
cheaper b560 is propotional to lower performance because of higher heat .i'd suggest if hes buying anything like an expensive case/just buying 8gb ram or something cut cost on that and buy the best mobo like gigabyte b560 m aorus pro or something

TheSloth

The Slowest One
B560M Aorus will be wasted on 11400 for sure.
He is buying a basic case, not sure which one, to cut cost. He already overshoot his budget so going for Aorus isn't possible.
I referred HU video review of B560 lineup and DS3H was not a preferred choice. I have asked friend to inquire about MSI B560M VDH Pro and Asus B560M Plus and see if he can get at reasonable price, 11-12K may be.

can i know his budget and what else he is buying i can search for alternatives.but i srsly think buying that mobo is worth it

Thanks dude. But no need to look for alternatives now since he already finalized the build after I posted here.
Budget was 70K. 16GB RAM needs so that is costing 9K and 1050Ti which is costing 20K! This is what ate his budget. 11400 is coming for 16K. I am not sure which mobo he selected.

oh,i wouldnt go for 1050ti if i had that budget i'd wait for 5700g/5600g or somethin. gpus are not value for money now. gd luck for him anyway

4.2GHz is all core freq possible with i5 11400. Check price for MSI B560M Pro VDH WiFi. Stuff cheaper than Gigabyte B560M DS3H are better to be avoided, even Gigabyte isn't that great, but for cheap, works. Check prices for others.

Got the following below estimate -
AMD Ryzen 5 5600x + MSI B550M Pro VDH + XPG D60G 8x2 3200MHz RAM - Price 44,799
AMD Ryzen 5 5600x + Asrock B550M Pro 4 + XPG D60G 8 3200MHz RAM - Price 39,500 (Unable to resist this one and thinking of adding 1 stick next month)
Processor is quoted as 26.2 & 26k respectively for the above two.
