1. Budget? 50k
2. Display type and size? Atleast 6"
3. Dual sim? Yes
4. Preferred choice of brand?Apple and Samsung
5. What camera option you want (flash, front facing camera)? Not very particular
6. Preferred operating system? (Android, iOS,Stock Android etc). Either Android or iOS
7. Preferred connectivity options (Dual 4G,802.11AC/5Ghz(not 5g mobile network) wifi). 4G
8. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, internet, gaming etc)? Multimedia/camera/internet
9. Any specific mobile phones in consideration? Samsung S20 FE/S20+ and Apple iPhone 11
10. Any other info that you want to share - I will be buying a new phone during upcoming festive offers at Flipkart and Amazon. Both S20+ and iPhone 11 will be available for 50k during this time. I have always been an android user but have seen great support for Apple products by the company. Hence I will like to know if it will be worth shifting to iPhone 11 or should I stick with android and buy S20+ (or S20 FE).

If you do manage to pick up for the iPhone 11 at the 50k price range, it's more than worth to get it. New iPhones are coming but at that price range you can't go wrong.

Before making an expensive purchase and moving over to iOS, consider borrowing one from a friend for 1-2 hours to see if you are comfortable with using it.

I have been using ipad for few years and thus have some experience with iOS. I just wanted to know if it is worth moving from android to ios platform.

To be honest, the only one who can say "it's worth or not" is you the person who's going to use it. Feature wise, in terms of day to use day use you wouldn't miss out on much for either platform.

Now the deals are on and options I have is S20+ for 40k or iPhone 11 (128GB) for 50k. What should I buy?

S20+ > S20 FE

Android vs iOS is a different kind of stuff. I'd personally not get iOS nor suggest it to my immediate relatives who rely on me for their tech support (iPad is a different story as android tabs aren't good & OS is not great for tablet). You have to take a call on that.

There are many annoyances in iOS compared to android, long list but some that I can remember are: lack of file manager (iPad OS has it not iOS), not so easy file management when connected to PC, in some cases complicated to just download a file from internet & use it, less customizability, etc. There are other issues with iPhones like very high repair costs & expensive upfront (S20+ has a far superior display & I feel you shouldn't compromise on display).

Again, not starting an android vs iOS war, but some points on why I won't buy iPhones for myself.

S20 FE was never in contention..

As for OS comparison, I am in same position as you. The phone will be for my wife and I am her tech support guy. She (and even me) have been comfortable with android and if we go for iOS then it will be some learning for me too. The problem with Samsung (and hence android) is that their phones are good for 2-3 years and then they start failing miserably. They don't even have update support after 2 years which forces you to change the mobile. This is not the case with iphone. I have seen people using their iphones even after 4 years of usage with s/w support from Apple. Thats the sole reason I am considering iPhones. Else S20+'s features are much better than iPhone 11 and is still 10k cheaper.

Samsung updated their policy recently & all flagships (S series & Note series), from S10 onwards, will get 3 OS updates. My S8 is 3 years old now, it slowed down a bit with time but I recently factory resetted it, is faster now (won't be as fast as new flagships, but is still smooth enough). Gone are Samsung's Touchwiz days where they had laggy UI. Even my father's Samsung C7 was working decent for normal usage after 3 years (both have reduced battery now though, understandable in a way).

Its good move from Samsung. I think I''ll go with S20+ now. Thanks.
