1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.' Vague answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work.)
Ans: Primarily for virtualization. I had multiple Win 10 licenses in my account, if I can install it on the new PC then I will use VMware workstation otherwise virtual box on Ubuntu or Rhel

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then please mention.
Ans: Undecided, minimum as long as it fulfills my mandatory requirement (40k?)
- Min 32GB RAM
- MB should have 4 RAM slots as plan to expand to 64GB eventually
- 240GB NVMe
- CPU with min 6 cores

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: As mentioned, Win 10 or Ubuntu

5. How much hard drive / solid-state drive space is needed?
Ans: Minimum 250GB NVMe, HDD not required

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention the screen size and resolution you prefer. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, then do mention the screen size and resolution of the monitor you have.
Ans: Monitor not required, 21 inch, full HD

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy? i.e. which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Just need CPU, Memory, MB, NVMe. Do not need cabinet and PS but do not mind suggestions on PS.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Next couple of months

9. Have you ever built a desktop before? Or, will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: No, but can assemble

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Bangalore, ok with both

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: PC is primarily for virtualization but would like to have an option to upgrade it with a graphics card. Assuming all MBs will have a PCIe slot for that. Also, must have a CPU with GPU as not planning to buy any graphics card now.

In the next two months there may be some new options. But for now Intel looks like the only option you have.
Min 6 core with iGPU, that rules out AMD. This is a rough pricing, you would need about 50k.

i5 - 20k
B460 - 10K
16GB x 2 - 14K
250GB NVMe - 5K

Thanks. I am hoping the prices will come down a bit by then for the same hardware and in any case I am planning to buy within the next 2 months, rather sooner than later.

Can you please provide the specifics? Links to any online site would be really helpful. And why AMD is ruled out? I see in Amazon this is going for 14K, and this is 8 cores

check mdcomputers.in www.vedantcomputers.com (both are in kolkata) www.primeabgb.com & its ssd selling division www.onlyssd.com(both are in mumbai) & www.theitdepot.com(located in Chennai).

All ryzen non-G processors(processors with no G in their name) need graphics card for display output as they don't have integrated graphics & currently the max cores on a ryzen G processor are 4(ryzen 3400G).

I just opened my dusty old cabinet and realized I had a Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 lol! Would this work?
