I have been planning on upgrading my old i5 4690k machine with a new Ryzen machine. My current config is:

Intel Core i5 4690k
Asus Z97-A motherboard
GSkill RipjawsX 4x4GB DDR3 RAM

I was browsing mdcomputers and I chose the following components to replace the ones above:

AMD Ryzen 7 3800X : 29599
Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus WiFi : 18400
G.Skill Ripjaws V 4x4GB DDR4 : 1900 x 4 = 7600
Total: 55599

I will retain my GPU, PSU and hard drives from the current build.

I'll fill the questionnaire later if needed.

Just a small point of concern. Why not the 3700X+ aftermarket cooler (if in case you find the stock cooler unsatisfactory)?

Mobo is good & if you can afford 3800x then why not but I don't think getting 4gb*4 ram makes sense nowadays.
Buy Online G.SKILL Sniper X Series 16GB (2x8GB) 3600MHz DDR4 Memory F4-3600C19D-16GSXWB - in India
Buy Online G.SKILL Sniper X 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3600 Desktop Memory F4-3600C19D-16GSXKB - in India

What is the difference between Ripjaws and Sniper memory from GSkill?

Yeah, a couple of people suggested me to get 8x2.

Any advantage to this?

Similar performance (from what I could gather by reading online reviews and posts).
Lower TDP ~ should run a bit cooler.
Price difference, though not too large, is still there.
I myself had to rush for an AMD System a couple of months back and found the stock cooler (admittedly the Wraith Stealth, not the Wraith Prism) to be quite ineffective. Though again, my PC is not in an AC environment.
However, these are quite negligible issues, and as whitestar said, if can go for it and find the 3800X better suited to your needs, go for it.

Seems like ripjaws V is better for same frequency so get this instead(primeabgb prices are lower but it is out of stock there):
Buy G.Skill 16GB DDR4 (F4-3600C18D-16GVK) at Best Price in India - mdcomputers.in

Ok then, given all the inputs, I have decided the following config:

Ryzen 7 3700X
G.Skill Ripjaws V 8x2GB DDR4

I will look up prices later.

So prices are as follows on mdcomputers:

Ryzen 7 3700X - 27649
G.Skill Ripjaws V 8GB (8GBx1) DDR4 2400MHz = 3200 x 2 = 6400
Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus WiFi : 18400
Total: 52449

Are these prices good?

Edit: zz RAM is out of stock.

Why not go for this ? Higher guarenteed clocks

Correct me if im wrong but the RAM stick by GSKILL, it's default clocks is 2400mhz. Its most probably possible to OC it to 3000mhz (2933mhz actually) but wouldnt it make more sense to get a ram stick that offers it by default ?

In my case, even though the RAM stick is rated at 2933mhz (XMP 2.0 profile), I cant run it at that becauses my Ryzen 5 1600 only supports till 2666 mhz. So had to underclock it.

I used to think that, but even the generation of CPU matters. My mobo supports upto 3200mhz but 1st gen ryzen 5 only supports upto 2666mhz

Yeah, but 3700x being a newer generation chip would support higher memory clocks right?

As per this official infographic from AMD, 3600 MHz is recommended:

Yes absolutely, and that's why you should go for a ram stick that guarentees it, instead of relying on ocing.
Corsair one I linked guarentees 2933mhz, you can pay for a higher one even. Check diminishing returns tho

Cyberrock was asking me about it, so might sell to him. If negotiations don't go well, then Olx perhaps. But I'll probably list it here in the Bazaar section first.
