2 persons looking for new phones, both having same requirements but with different budgets

1. Budget? - Max INR10000 and INR15000

2. Display type and size? - Around 6 (I think every model in this range has similar.)

3. Dual sim? - Not necessary but I think every model in this range has it nowadays.

4. Preferred choice of brand? - any good brand with regular updates.

5. What camera option you want? - Whatever Best available.

6. Preferred operating system? - Android or Stock Android.

7. Preferred connectivity options - 4G VoLTE / Dual 4G VoLTE and if possible dual band WiFi

8. Primary use of handset - Voice Calling, messaging apps, Multimedia, regular music / video streaming apps, various financial and banking apps. NO GAMING AT ALL.

9. Any specific mobile phones in consideration? - None.

10. Any other info that you want to share. :
a) It is expected to be used for 1.5-2 years unless these people find some lost-n-found money or lottery (as told by them).
b) Not in a hurry, can wait for some time (less than a month).
c) Neither of them is a tech guy so nothing fancy like rooting or custom roms will be tried. Both use only manufacturer supplied OTA updates.

For 10k, Redmi Note 7, but has a hybrid slot. 32GB is bare minimum these in terms of storage, so will be a problem if your friend uses 2 SIMs (which most people do). Highly recommend getting its 4GB RAM 64GB storage variant for 12k (there is going to be 10% off via SBI card). Or another option is Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 for 8.5k. It has a 3 slot design, so you can use 2 SIMs + SD card.

Redmi Note 7S just has a better rear camera than Note 7, whereas Note 7 Pro has the better camera of 7S + better chipset.

For under 15k, Redmi Note 7 Pro is a great choice, costs 14k. No major complaints here for normal usage.

I am not sure but Nokia of today is definitely not the same as old Nokia & definitely not worth the price premium for the hardware it offers(& it does matter.e.g.nowadays it is recommended to go for at least snapdragon 660 for ~10k budget while nokia 6.1 plus with snapdragon 636 is selling for around 12.5k & has inferior camera to max pro M1 which comes with same 636 processor).

I bought nokia 6.1 recently @ 7k. Now its available for 9k . I whole heartedly recommend this phone. See my review here Rugged android one, Android Q phone suggestions Only possible negative is that its a 1 year old model. I don't think you need to worry about specs if you aren't into gaming. for me the performance is great with things like google earth and all.

I was also considering the new nokia 4.2 , but it has a slower processor, lower res screen and costs more.

Nokia 6.1 plus is decent for 13k, but only if your friend wants a compact phone. If he/she is fine with the size of Redmi Note 7 Pro, its superior in every aspect other than OS (which is kind of a personal taste but Nokia is better for updates).

Redmi Note phones have decent builds for their price, so don't worry about that. Even though they moved to a plastic frame instead of metal, its still good. Plastics aren't bad. After using glass back phones for ~7 years now, I will love having a plastic phone which is well built (like those old Lumia ones). I hate glass because it's useless, it just makes the phone more fragile (I agree its more durable to scratches, but I can avoid that with a skin). I don't drop my phone much, so if my phone had a plastic back, I will ditch the case & use maybe tempered glass on front & skin on the back.

nokia 6.1 again available for 7k
It is definitely a good phone for someone looking to spend 7-8k, but with a 10k budget, there are just better options. Also with everyone shifting to at least 18:9 aspect ratio, it was out of place from day 1, still that's not an issue if your budget is tight.
