**Laptop purchased - thread closed**

I'm looking for a minimum 15-inch laptop for college use/ programming. Should preferably have Windows.

Budget: 60k-70k

Size: Minimum 15" screen.

Primary Tasks: College use/ programming.

Weight: Should not be very heavy, but not too light to skip on features.

Preferred Specs: i5 8th gen, 8 GB DDR 4 RAM, 256GB SSD, FHD, 15-inch screen with good viewing angles. Should have good keyboard and upgradeable specs like RAM and SSD, and last but not the least a good battery backup. Windows preferred.

No brand preferences.

Was in a slight hurry and happened to visit a store and ended up purchasing Dell G3 that met all of the important requirements. Thanks for the help!

For how much did you get it for ? G3s online are very costly.
Dell laptops are quite expensive in India, no matter where you buy. The newly launched Asus TUF FX505 with GTX1650 is a better choice than any Dell option for 70k. The R7 3750H performs similar to i5 8300H/9300H, so a good pair for 1650.

I bought my old Dell one from paytm as I was offered 10k cashback. In 2016, i7 + 960M Asus laptops were going for 85k & my Dell with i5 + 960M was 83k (Dell had cashback on paytm, no such offer for Asus as it was just launched).

Hey, I am myself planning to buy one right now, I plan a budget for around 50-55k ( I know its not much), what I have in mind is the ASUS Nitro 5, With i5 8th gen+GTX1050Ti, I can increase my budget to around 60k, do you think I should go for it? Knowing the fact that Nitro 5 2019 comes up with GTX1650, and cost 829$, but yet not available in India, should I wait or go for it?

P.S. btw if you can wait then buy during Oct sales of FK(big billion sale) & amazon(great indian shopping sale) as gaming laptops are priced cheapest in these sales in an year.

I read it pretty earlier, what do you think should I do then? I am going to college this year, and wanted to buy a decent enough laptop for gaming and programming, what do you think about the various laptops with the whole AMD setup (Ryzen 5+ R560X), but what I found on youtube there was a difference of almost 10FPS in basic gaming between 1050ti and 560X, what do you think, I should do?

Like I said earlier, better wait for Oct if you can. That time you will have more options & you will definitely get a better laptop with same budget compared to if you buy now.

Nitro 5 with 1050Ti is a great choice for 55k as GTX1650 laptops cost 65k+.

If you can spend more, this is a great choice:
Ryzen 7 3750H performs similar to i5 8300H/9300H but Ryzen 5 3550H is a bit inferior to them, still, it should perform better than i5+1050Ti.

The cost of Ryzen7+GTX 1650 costs at 900$ which is considerable, but it is not available here in India, I see it on Amazon US, and isn't available for purchase anywhere here :(

Don't directly convert US prices to INR. Be happy that prices of gaming laptops aren't as high as it used to be. 3 years ago, an $800 gaming laptop would cost 80k in India. With Flipkart's focus on gamers, they pushed prices down & now those costs like 65k during sales. The situation is still bad for higher end laptops as there won't be enough volume to push for lower prices.

Considering the average income of US, its relatively easy to buy a $1000 laptop here. Indian's don't earn much by developed world standards (like US, EU, etc), so prices of such items are pretty expensive for Indians relatively. Say an engineer at a decent company would start at 5lpa in India, but would start at $60-70k in the US.

Moreover, US apparently has one of the cheapest prices for electronics in the world, even Canadians are jealous of that.

Thank you and Flipkart for this :)

Check the reddit thread I posted above,it seems nitro 5 has not so good thermal performance.
I feel it might be one-off case or that guy might be running his laptop at ambient temps of 40C, who knows. Many reviews state Nitro 5 has decent thermals & a friend of mine has it as well. His laptop temps are ok while gaming & no throttling (I assume max temps go till 90C, but averages under 90C).

40-44C is the usual temp range from Mar end to early July in North India/NCR & in a non-ac room(with water cooler) ambient temps of ~32-33C is the norm.

I know. My old Dell 7559 rarely crossed 80C (70C when new in 25-30C ambient), but when ambient temps were 45C, it used to hit 85C+. You can't expect much during those hot days from a gaming laptop.
