System restarts during blackout while gaming only

Hi Everyone,

I have only recently started gaming on my main PC. My PC is powered by an APC BACK-UPS 800VA 230V that is close to five years old. As mentioned in the thread title, every time there is a powercut and I happen to be gaming at that time, the system suddenly reboots. It doesn't happen if the system is idle or some lighter task is being run. Despite the age of the UPS, it easily provides over 10 minutes of backup (maybe even more, haven't tested).
My PSU is the Corsair CX430, which is about three years old. Even at load, I doubt whether my PC consumes more than 300-350 watts.

Any insights on what could be the reason? I am not averse to upgrading either the UPS or the PSU, but clueless about the actual culprit behind the problem.

PC Specs:
i7 4770
24GB RAM
500GB SSD, 1 TB HDD, 2TB HDD
Corsair CX 430 PSU
Nvidia GTX 750 ti

Thanks,
Rituraj

the same thing happened to me multiple times in the past, system would restart on power cut if i was gaming in full screen mode. it didnt restart if game was minimized at time of power cut. every time the culprit turned out to be my UPS. UPS was not able to handle the load from the PC for the few milli seconds it took to switch from direct to backup power
first time issue was resolved when i changed from 600va to 700va for a corsair vx450 psu.
2nd time the battery in the 700 va was weak and i had by then changed to corsair hx650. so i had to replace battery which fixed the restart issue.
3rd time was when replaced battery degraded again after 2years. so this time i changed to a 1kva ups since my apc700 ups was 6years old by then.

Corsair CX550 issue with UPS

hope this info was useful to you.

Thanks for all the inputs guys. Here is an update on the issue. I borrowed a Corsair VS450 PSU from an acquaintance and got it connected to my computer. I fired up a game and asked someone to switch off the mains. The system didn't reboot. I repeated this few more times and there was no reboot. I also got my UPS checked at the local APC service center and there were no apparent issues with it. Everything thus pointed to a faulty PSU (Corsair CX430) in my case. I subsequently ordered a Corsair CX650m on Amazon and its arrival is awaited.

I hope the PSU upgrade solves the problem.

you shouldnt have ordered before checking to see if that is the issue first. If you have any friend with similar PSU, try installing his first.
I did check the PSU. I used a borrowed Corsair VS450, temporarily replacing my CX430, as mentioned in my previous post. The system didn't reboot after connecting the VS450 and when the mains was switched off while I was gaming.
