Looks like Huawei doesn't want any power users

Huawei may be bricking modded devices in an attempt to kill community development

I would like to get a statement at least from Huawei on why they are doing it? Security is one thing but still, the users who root their phones are responsible for the consequences.

yuss, free paytm moolah so who cares amirite

I never dissed Huawei in the past, I thought they were a respectable brand with enough RND to make their own processors but this is unforgivable lol.
Tata Huawei, you will not be missed.

In order to copy Apple, they have to copy whatever stupid restrictions iOS has too. Many users bricked their repaired iphones after iOS update.
Their phones were also bricked when they got their touch id, hardware, replaced from a non CRapple store.

I wonder what would happen if Huawei/Honor did the same kind of marketing that they are doing here on a forum such as XDA.

Wow damn, I never knew that.
They sponser a development forum and they cut off development support from their phones.

Their PR team is in a limbo. I think top management doesn't wants customers to keep extending their phones' lives beyond official support period.

Wow, really? That's really pointless then since their policies appear to be in direct contradiction to this.
I don't think so.

It’s no secret that Honor, a sub-brand of Huawei, sponsors XDA for certain content. Anytime that happens, the content is submitted under the “A Word From Our Sponsors” which are handled entirely by the XDA Administrative staff – not the XDA Portal team. The XDA Portal team does not deal with sponsored content in any way. Every time the Portal covered news related to Huawei or Honor, it has always been because we chose to do so and not because Huawei or Honor asked us to do so.

They used to support custom ROM development & had an Open Kirin project. Something changed in the management a few months ago apparently due to which they are taking a U-turn.

Well, looks like they want sheep, not customers.
They even admitted to cheating in benchmark apps.
Huawei was caught cheating on phone benchmarks (updated)

The new management might not be suitable for the task, who knows. It is a bad time for Huawei & its users for sure.
