PC for data analytics and programming for ~30k

Hi all. My laptop has stopped working and since I have an office laptop, I thought I might go for a desktop which will give me better performance for lower price. And I'll also get to use a 22" monitor which I have lying around. So just trying to get a sense of what's out there in the market these days.

1. What is the purpose of the computer?
Ans: Primarily data analytics, mostly using Python and R.

2. What is your overall budget?
Ans: 30k +/- 10%

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Ubuntu

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 1 TB should be more than enough. I have external HDD of 2 TB, so I won't be storing movies or games on the PC. I actually wouldn't mind not having an HDD if I could fit an SSD in this budget by ditching the HDD.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor?
Ans: No. Already have a 22" television which I use as external display with my laptop. It works fine for me.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I don't need keyboard, mouse, speaker and monitor.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: In a couple of months. Don't plan on buying immediately

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: I have built one before.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: I live in Chennai, most likely will be buying from Ritchie street. But I don't mind ordering online either.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Not into gaming, probably would never play a game on this machine. So I definitely don't need a graphics card.

build a rig with either Ryzen 3 2200G or R5 2400g depending upon CPU performance requirement as per your needs ,.. you can search benchmarks for R3 1300x and R5 1500x to get idea of CPU performance of these APUs, launching next month ..
.
Corsair CX 450 - 3400
Corsair 8gb Ram - 6500
Gigabyte A320M HD2 Mobo - 4700 ( will require BIOS update before you can use it or likely by april they'll launch new mobo series which will run it out of the box )
Cpu - 8,000 - 2200g / 13,000 - 2400G
Samsung Evo 250 GB SSD - 7,000*
Cabinet - 3000

around 33k

*you can get 2400G and go for 120 gb SSD instead but with 250 GB EVO you get 5 years warranty and more performance apart from extra storage , so it is much more value for money .. but if you feel CPU performance is less for your use/future case , then go with 120 GB + 2400G combo in the limited budget

This seems like a good option. Just wanted to know, where does the Intel 4560 lie in comparison to i3 and i5? I'm not really updated on these processor lineups.

Also, say I skip the HDD (only SSD as I can get hold of an old HDD) and add another 3-4k to my budget, would I be able to accommodate a Ryzen? Would the performance difference be worth it?

Either wait for 2200G or just go with G4560 (which is basically an i3 now). 2400G would take about a third of your budget alone.

roughly in desktop terms ,

G4560 is like old Core i3 - 2 cores /4threads --- Passmark rating - 5000

R3 2200G is like Old Core i5- 4 cores/ 4 threads --- passmark rating - 7,700

R5 2400G is like Old Core i7 - 4 cores / 8 threads --- passmark rating - 10,000

by old , i mean 2017 Core series 7th generation processors and all the generations before ..

as 2018 / 8th generation Core series is different and upgraded ..

8th generation Core i3 8100 - 4 Cores / 4 threads - same as R3 2200G/ old Core i5

8th generation Core i5 8400 - 6 Cores / 6 Threads - passmark rating - 11,500

you can easily get Ryzen 3 + 250 gb evo SSD , or a 2400G + 120gb SSD , depending upon how much CPU power you need for your current/future purpose ..

Thanks for the responses guys. I think I will wait a while for the new Ryzen lineup. I will see if I can fit 2400G in my config by extending my budget a bit. I would like to have something which wouldn't require an upgrade very soon.
