windows 10 update version 1079 problems

My lappie stuck at configuring your computer please wait for last 30 minutes while ipdating for version 1079 update...had to force shut it down ..the update is still availible but worried in case the installation fails again.whats the solution

Is this update really worth the trouble or should i forget it.my laptop is working fine,i had updated from windows 8 to free windows 10 after a marathon session

Maybe you need fresh install. What are your laptop's specs? The fall update has no new useful features.

Fall update is old Aero in a new name. I couldn't notice anything more. Perhaps, something in Edge as well.

30 minutes is nothing for such a major update. I did an update for a friend's laptop from first Windows 10 RTM release to 1709. It took 20 hours to finish

Use the Windows Upgrade Assistant. You have a better chance of the update going through successfully that way.

It took me 7 hours (3 times download and install) to successfully done it.

Why the **** do they make us download the same thing again and again in case of installation failures? It is more than 1 GB for each try.

I downloaded the Media Creation Tool, so that I can make an ISO. When selecting, it gives an option only for Windows 10, not Win 10 Pro or Home or anything. I am on Win 10 Single Language, and that option is not there at all. Also used a user agent switcher and tried downloading the ISO from the MS site here:

Download Windows 10 Disc Image (ISO File)

For select edition, it gives only one option: Windows 10. Again, no Pro or Single Language option. In the next step, it just asks me to select the language, and then whether I want it 32 or 64 bit, and then gives a 4.4 GB ISO for download.

So have they started offering one single download to all customers, regardless of whether they are on Pro or Home or Single Language?

I could use the Media Creation Tool or the Windows Upgrade Assistant to directly upgrade, but I'd like to keep a setup handy.

Btw, regarding comment #7 above, is the F-word allowed? Thought I'd report it, but maybe it is allowed?

64 bit version is exactly 4479.75MB while 32 bit version is 3312.81MB so somehow you only downloaded the 64 bit version.

I haven't downloaded it yet; I was just stating the size the Microsoft gives. When I do download, I'll download the 64-bit version only, because that's what I need. There's another site which gives different ISOs of Win 10:

I don't know if it is safe to download from this site. It has a separate section for Standard, N-Edition, KN-Edition and Single Language ISOs. The sizes it gives for Single Language - English International are 3.8 GBs for x64 and 2.8 GBs for x32 versions. For some reason, trying to the download the Standard version with English International gives a 404 error. The downloads come from:

*software-download.microsoft.com

I used "global.sitesafety.trendmicro.com", "safeweb.norton.com", and "scamadviser.com" to check the above mentioned site, and they all said it is safe. The Microsoft site I mentioned in my previous post gives direct download links, but they are valid for only 24 hours from the time of creation. "windowsiso.net" however, has no such time limitation. The ISOs from the MS site also have the same download address (software-download.microsoft.com). So would it be safe to download from windowsiso.net? I did some googling, and some say it's safe while others advise staying away from it. I would generally download only from the MS site, but it doesn't give any separate links for Single Language, while windowsiso.net does.

@BhargavJ There are no official single language ISO links for Redstone 3 version of win 10(aka fall creators update) & windowsiso doesn't have it either.Hover the cursor over win 10 various editions under win 10 ISO & you will see that single language option is only available till 1607 version option.

P.S.check your downloaded ISO's by matching hash value.The below is for win 10 RS3 x64 English(US) version:

@s18000rpm, the site I had mentioned earlier already gives the option for languages, but it does not specifically give an option for Single Language; that was the problem I was encountering. But as @whitestar_999 has said, Microsoft has stopped giving a separate Single Language ISO. So you have to download the 4.4 GB ISO of x64 from the MS site, which contains both Home and Pro, and also Single Language, and during installation, it will automatically install the version that is allowed on that particular computer, in my case, the Single Language one.

Strange thing is, when I go to the windowsiso.net site, it doesn't give any option to open the Single Language ISO download page for version 1709; it mentions it, but it is not a clickable link to open another page. I could have sworn that I had opened that page earlier and seen the download for the Single Language ISOs. Maybe it was the 1607 Anniversary update page I had opened...

A few months back, I had made a system backup image using EaseUS ToDo Backup. What I'm planning to do now is, first I'll download the x64 1709 ISO from the MS site, then revert back to the 1607 image which has only drivers installed and no other clutter, then extract and run the 1709 setup, and after completion of the setup, make another system image to replace the 1607 image. This way, I'll have both the ISO, and a working system image backup of the latest version. If I do a clean install of 1709 now, I'll have to install the drivers again.
