Updates at the end of post

I am from gurgaon, haryana India.Recently bought Mi3 for my dad, during first flash sale of Mi3 in india.[22 july]Awesome phone. My family members and friends were impressed by its looks and performance an atleast 10 of the people i know ( including some in my family) are saving up and waiting for Mi4. (including me)

BUT

My dad has dropped the phone atleast 100 times and so far not even a single scratch but few days back it dropped from a height which it was not built to last. So the lower portion of the touch screen cracked a bit and now that cracked portion is not responding to touch. Which leaves it useless as unlock mechanism of the phone is that area. Can't unlock phone and can't even answer the call as even the area to answer or reject call is also in that portion

So i went to the nearest and only service centre of Xiaomi in my city. i was surprised to know that they don't have a single spare parts of Xiaomi. this was the response that i got there"Sir we don't have any spare part at the moment. we haven't received any spare parts from Xiaomi so far. we have already requested it but are still waiting for them. You can check in 7-10 days with us.

"So no spare parts??????? whats the purpose of listing it as service centre if it is not capable of servicing anything??? this is the case after 2 month and after 10-15 days it will be 3 month.

i have sent email. Posted on Facebook and twitter page of xiaomi india. i even posted on huggo barra google plus profile.

I finally received reply of my email today which said that they are sorry and that they have forwarded my email to the appropriate department.

4th oct Update :
I called xiaomi exclusive service centre today(4th OCT) and even they have not received any spare parts till date. It will soon be 3 months since xiaomi first flash sale now

I have recorded calls made to xiaomi exclusive centre in Delhi (in hindi) and xiaomi toll free number (in English)
Will call again tomorrow (8th October) and record the conversation in English and post it here. Will also visit the service centre again tomorrow and post some more proof.

Here is the video in which service centre guy is admitting that they only received spare parts once since 22nd july.(thats once in 3months). This time i have submitted my device and they have said that it will atleast take 15 days or more. No one know exactly how much time. Day they get spare parts they will repair my device within 24hrs.

No spare parts at XIAOMI service centres. - YouTube

Will be uploading audio recordings of xiaomi exclusive service centre as well and calls made to xiaomi customer care number.

3rd nov.
Phone finally repaired. Cost Rs6070/-
After emailing and posting on almost all social media for 3 months i got response from xiaomi india facebook page. But after few conversation they stopped replying and i got call from service centre next day that your phone has been repaired. So i don't know whether it was because of that conversation or spare parts finally arrived.

Still its best to go visit your nearest xiaomi service centre and ask them for quote and repair time for your xiaomi mi3 or redmi 1s or Mi4(when it arrives) before you buy any of these phones. So that you will have rough idea if the situation in your area.

physical damages won't be covered under warranty, no matter what phone you buy. -_-

just check ebay/amazon/other websites before ranting here about spares being unavailable.

also, a smartphone is a delicate object now a days, you aren't expected to drop it even once, much less 100 times as you mentioned. -_-

I said spare parts are not available. I am not claiming warranty. And i don't want to order any spare parts online. If that spare part doesn't work or causes any problem in few days then i will loose twice the money. I want to pay xiaomi and get my device fixed.

actually some phones these days do cover a one-time screen replacement
such phones are pricier etc such as the LG G3 etc

though i must admit the mi3 parts on ebay are quite cheap in comparison to the other phone parts ive seen online

Am I reading that right? The phone was dropped 100 times? And then it broke? It can be said then it has an exceptional built.

However I am not a believer of phones should be used like delicate object, that applies to ceramic tea pot sets, rather quite opposite, I handle my phones as badly as I can, but seriously dude a hundred times?

By the way, some phones do come with damage coverage warranty or something, like Xperia Z2, however for six months only, they will replace anything in that period, either purposefully done or accidental, however that's quite a different league of device than Mi3.

Hmm..finally Xaomi revealing its true colors !

Thanks for the update kapiljhajhria , I was skeptical about Xaomi but this incident confirms my doubts.

When they don't have enough phone's here in India, how do you expect spare parts......

It is better to stick with a brand with good ASS, so long Xaomi !

îts not about showing its true colours
ive been saying the same things since xiaomi mi3 was released and everyone went ahead to boo me saying they had service centres etc
though i will give them credit over micromax etc which is far worse, they decide to charge for manufacturing defects after a week of purchase

Nothing surprising. High end specs at low price, something has got to give. You want better ass but with same specs, spend more. Looks like xiaomi will suffer heavy losses if this continues. They haven't even started selling note or MI pad.

Yes it was. It was a gift for my dad. It was his new smartphone and he used to experiment before going to sleep. So almost every alternate day he used to kick it off the bed in his sleep. But no scratch all those times. And it also fell lot of times from his shirt pocket. Phone was awesome till i ran into this little problem which turned into huge problem because of no spare parts availability.

Will call and visit service centre today and collect some proof to post online, so that more people can know about it. I asked them do you have any spare parts for any xiaomi device they said no. Not even a single xiaomi spare part is available. Not even redmi 1s.

Its of no use. God only knows when the spare parts will arrive in delhi or gurgaon. And i think most of these shipments are for fixing the deflected or returned devices. Since spare parts should arrive in a larger quantity (not huge but atleast 100 or more) . i have posted on his twitter and google plus profile multiple times. No response till now.

Well, for a company who are still on the process of building a network in India, this situation is quite natural, in fact you should have considered the same, when buying it, did you get any cover or guard anything to protect the phone?
Xiaomi isn't the first company to have these issues
If you thought the phone could survive on its own, that was a bit stupid, this ain't Nokia you know!!
It's pretty thin and light weight and the moment I got it I knew I had to get some cover because it's quite slippery
How many days have your phone been in service?
And I do really hope it gets repaired

Its about using the phone but still. Its about their ASS.
Worse than micromax.
HE should have used the device like a girlfriend but then if he runs into some problem, there should be replacements available. As long as he is willing to pay for the damages its totally Xioami's fault .

There was nothing available for xiaomi when i bought the phone. I checked all the local shops. Since i got it in first sale local shop owners were not even aware of the phone. Even on flipkart it took too much time for covers to be available. By that time my device was already damaged. It doesn't matter how device was damaged or i should have protected it with my life or not. Even if i would have gone to the service centre for some other spare part (because of xyz reason) the issue couldn't have been fixed because they don't have any spare parts. Even in xiaomi exclusive service centre. What's the purpose of xiaomi exclusive service centre if they don't have any parts?

if it gets too serious i suggest trying Akosha to get this issue sorted
they charge a bit of money though-200 to 400 or something
usually it gets the company execs attention and they will be forced to help you
Online Consumer Forum | Resolve Consumer Complaints | Akosha
but only do it if xiaomi doesnt respond or makes you run in circles
