Unable to find my wifi after windows 8.1 update

In facing a very peculiar problem in regards to my Wi-Fi. As soon as the 8.1 update was downloaded, the laptop rebooted and after 15-20 minutes of installation I was asked to select my wifi network. Strangely enough it was not displayed there so I skipped the step and proceeded with the installation.

After it was installed, I switched on the wifi on my laptop and my connection was nowhere to be found. It could identify other network ie my neighbor's but not mine. So I plugged in an Ethernet wire and it worked.

Next I changed the ssid of my wifi from the modern page to "aaa". As soon as I did it, my laptop could identify the new network and connect to it. So I again changed the ssid to the original name. It worked like a charm. I restarted my laptop to make sure everything was fine.

After some time, I switched off my modern. When I restarted it, the same problem occurred. To fix it temporarily, I again changed the ssid.

Any solutions for this? It's beginning to irritate me.

Try uninstalling and then re-installing WLAN drivers for Windows 8.1

And don't forget to reboot in between.
