I still feel Snapdragon 400 Quads like the one on Moto G is more than enough for mid class and Snapdragon 600 like the one on HTC One for high end . Hell, 2 year old S4 Pro Quad is still a beast when it comes to practical usage.
4K video? Who will use it? 4k screens are rare and expensive and u can imagine the file size for 4k videos 0_0
Maybe in the next 4-5 years 4k will be relevant

I really hope money minded companies stop shoving unnecessary tech down our throats...
It started with Apple's Retina 300ppi craze (though it made sense)
then dual ,quad and now octa
then came the 1080p race (maybe human eyes have evolved)

Qualcomm needs to change its multi-core strategy and think of a way to beat Apple's A7 Dual cores.
