Thin and Light; 12" - 14" screen or Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen

a. Like: Sony,HP,Lenovo
b. Dislike: Acer

4) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?

Mostly college Stuff..There would be a bit of gaming (not avid gaming like playing the latest games at the highest settings and all) so would appreciate a decent graphics card config..Also I believe (forgive my lack of knowledge if so) that an i53rd gen core or above that would be favourable.

5) What screen resolution(s) & type (glossy/matte) would you prefer?

Ans) Preferebly 1920x1080 or something near that..any type is fine

6) Anything else you would like to say? (eg: local purchase, ASS,matte/glossy finish)

Ans) I am currently in Bahrain. I plan to buy the laptop from here before going back to India. I have been searching through many threads in different sites and then stumbled upon this here.. I hope I have provided enough info so you can help me out..

Lenovo Y500 is easily the best in the budget

Yeah..but a couple of the reviews i read say that the battery life pulls down because of the dual grafix in it. Also is it really necessary that my needs for medium gaming and better portability and battery life would require this model? Do check out this model of VAIO that I stumbled upon on newegg..
SONY VAIO S Series SVS15127PXB Notebook- Intel Core i7 3632QM(2.20GHz), 15.5" Full HD 8GB Memory DDR3 1333, 750GB HDD 7200rpm, NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M LE

The fault is this is almost the same price as The lenovo y500 plus just a GB of dedicated grafix.. Any suggestions if this suits my need best?

That GT640M LE isn't near to even single GT650M. My laptop gives battery backup of 3-4hrs under light usage.

This is a link to Newegg of lenovo Y500: Newegg.com - lenovo IdeaPad Y500 (59359557) Notebook Intel Core i7 3630QM(2.40GHz) 15.6" 8GB Memory DDR3 1600 1TB HDD 5400rpm Dual NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M SLI

The details show that the laptop is around 3kgs..It is definitely an awesome option..Thanks..but do give me a help with other options.

Also is there just one GT650 or two of them..?Damn.. I am an owner of a SONY VAIO EB36FG i bought 2.5 years back. I plan to give it to my folks and get another one..That's why I'm currently searching for a new laptop. That laptop is 2.7kg. So I guess 3kg isn't much of an issue. But as I had repeated before, my gaming needs are medium. Like CS, need for speed, FIFA and maybe even crysis and it's successors.. There are times when I want to play these games a lot..so maybe running them on medium settings would be fine by me.. FHD display would be a wonderful spec for the laptop anyhow..Do help me choose a suitable one. And what is the general opinion about asus?

Go for dual gpu Y500 from lenovo in this price bracket.

Do check out the posts i've put up after yours in this thread..I would appreciate all the help available..:)
