Hi friends

I use a Compaq,V3000 series Laptop with Vista Home. Athlon X2,512mbx2 RAM. Its 2 years old and well kept and looked after with antivirus etc.
About 10 days back I started getting a message from Microsoft Office saying"your MS Office is not genuine" etc etc. Since it had a irritating value I asked my supplier to change the Office and he loaded a newer version of Office. The message has stopped coming. However another problem has also cropped up alongwith this is that now everytime I "Power-On' my laptop the screen remains blank. Then I have to "Power-Off" it 2-3 times to get it working.
Do you figure out what the problem is ??
My supplier feels that since the battery is very weak now, it may be caused by that. What do you think. Kindly advise. I shall wait for your inputs before I call Hphelp.

Thanks

Talk to HP customer care and see what they say.

How long have you kept the laptop on with blank screen? Is it that you don't even see the POST screen?

@johnrosswrock - HDD making noise is a sure sign of a failing HDD. Replace the HDD & stop using the laptop to avoid any further damage to your HDD & data.

Offcourse it is possible.
Backup data as soon as possible as it may die any moment.
