As ATI Graphic cards are manufactured by AMD (ATI Radeon™ HD 4870, ATI Radeon™ HD 4850 and ATI Radeon™ HD 4830 GPU) . I want to know that will these card only works on AMD motherboard or will work on any motherboard with PCI-E?
Right now thinking of only one graphic card.

AS
on site For a complete ATI CrossFireX™ system, a second ATI Radeon™ HD 4830 graphics card, an ATI CrossFireX Ready motherboard and one ATI CrossFireX Bridge Interconnect cable per graphics card (included) are required

Please tell me what is Crossfire system also as on site it says

ATI CrossFireX™ is the ultimate multi-GPU performance gaming platform. Enabling game-dominating power, ATI CrossFireX technology enables two or more discrete graphics processors to work together to improve system performance.

So for cross fire we need a compatible motherboard that supports crossfire technology ?? and what is the difference between SlI and crossfire? and please tell is there is any motherboard available that supports both slI and crossfire technology??

AS far as i know SlI need two similar cards and crossfire will works with two or more discrete

any PCI-E graphics card will work on any motherboard having PCI-E slot. For Crossfire you need a motherboard with two PCI-E slots. you can put two different ATI cards but the faster one will slow down and run at the second slower card's speed. In short, if you want to do crossfire, get a CF enabled mobo and two identical GPUs.

Given the performance of ATI cards these days, crossfire is not that useful unless you CF cards like HD4890 or higher power cards and are on a dual 24" display rig :)

Its true that as of now only DX58SO INtel MOBO supports both.

But considering that INTEL has completely migrated from pentium architecture to new i7 systems, the newer & advance MOBO will flood the market soon.

There are already three processors i920,i950 & i975 are being released by INTEL.

I think market is waiting to wash out old C2D & Quad Core stocks before floating the Octal core i7 systems.

Intel has provided support to both NVIDIA's SLI & ATI's crossfire technology.
But intel might not in future support ATI technologies.

i7 is quad core.

i7 920 950 975 were released months ago.

it's i3 i5 and LGA1156 i7 that were are waiting for now :)

It's has 4 cores with HT technology so it can have 8 threads going simulating 8 cores but physically only has 4.

Well since it's no based upon the ancient Pentium 4 structure it isn't bound by the same limitations.

FSB used to measure in 1066Mhz or 1333Mhz on how fast it could communicate with the RAM which was becoming a bottleneck in the system.

But they finally changed it similar to AMD's Hypertransport technology with an integrated memory controller and it's now its up to 4.8GT/s.
The interface is no more FSB but it is called as QPI(Quick Path Interface)

Desiibond is right, although, an ATI card on an AMD board will perform better than on any other board. As with any component, they’ve been designed with compatibility with their own products in mind. Decide the GPU before you choose your MoBo so that you don't have to pay the premium for a board that supports both Crossfire and SLI. It'll save you some money with which you can get some practical use by going for a better card.

crossfire is the least thing anyone does these days and so better forget about it and concentrate on getting single powerful card your money can buy.
