another model from HP to look out for is the HP's dv5 series, dv5t:1242tx wich wud cost u around Rs. 52K :) its a really good lappy.. :)
---------

In Dell, u can go for Dell Studio (as per ur work requirements described by u).. :)
--------

IF u wanna go Acer, then get the 4350 model of Acer.. :)
----------

Overall, either go for DELL or HP.. :) (both are excellent, with the HP lappy (2142tx) having a slight edge over DELL Studio).. :)

Cheers n e-peace....

well, i saw it a long time back, say 2-3 weeks back but the specs were really good:

2.2 Ghz processor, 3GB RAM, 320GB HDD (5400 rpm), 512MB nVIDIA 9400GS gpu with Vista (32bit), TV tuner card, dual head fone jack, multi card reader, 15.5" screen, (thats all i can remember ) :)
------------

Cheers n e-peace....

get dell studio 15 with P8600 proccy, or u can even go for Acer, they are the one giving DDR3 RAM in their laptops.

What are your reqs witht he laptop.
AFIAK, there's no dv5 1242, but there is dv4-1242tx and with 9200GS gfx which sucks compared to Dell studio HD3470 IMO. in dv4 series there are few models with 9600GM gfx card, which are good. and before buying just make sure what chipset the laptop has, buy with intel chipset and not nVidia chipset for now.

ok, I see none of ur reqs ask for very good gfx card.
get Dell Studio, configure with P8600, for anyone commenting on why P8600, bcoz the power consumtion is low, the base config will have T6400 which is 2GHz otherhand P8600 is 2.4GHz. P8600 has also better performance for virtualization. infact T6400 does not even supports virtualization(by that I mean Intel® Virtualization Technology)

damn, I too m looking for laptop, but no use, my desired config costs more, making me wait and think. and damn HP they are not giving any good configs even in compaq's models. thye had few models with P7350 proccy which they have already removed.

ok something from hp'S NEW LAUNCH, WHICH IS VERY GOOD.
HP ProBook 4510s Notebook PC- Models - VD626PA, quiet a decent config, priced 52K.
if you are into loads of programming stuff and such activities, other HP models for consumers which have gloss finish, you wont like much. ProBook is one of the new releases in Small Medium Business line, so to buy them u will need to do little lookup

my advice is dont go for hp... there after sales is good only till u dont have issues... once ur in they will forget u bought a system from them... i have heating problem which is confirmed with every model but they refusing to repair... they keep on inspiring u 2 buy extended warranty but wont do nethin after that... check this link for number of issues with their service
