Guys,I bought a Seagate FreeAgent Pro Ext 1.5TB with eSATA support,(worst thing there is NO eSATA cable provided in the sales package) for Rs.11,400.

Unfortunately my P5KPL-CM Asus mobo doesn't support eSATA,I'm using this ext hdd through USB.

Is there any PCI-eSATA add-on card available in India (Chennai),

Anyone with similar experience, kindly share your views!..plz...!

Most mid range mobos don't have eSATA back port, rather a eSATA pci bracket is given, one end connects to mobo sata port, other end gives a eSATA port.

You can buy this locally, ask for eSATA pci bracket, this does not require a PCI slot on mobo, just a free pci opening at the back of cabinet and afree SATA port at mobo.

Thank you verymuch for responding,

In my Chassis,"Cooler Master - CM 690",there is slot for eSATA the upper panel, which has moulded attachment at one end and SATA pin at the other,if connect thro' this my PC hangs!!!!
The product you have shown looks like a 'converter' from SATA to eSATA,which I'm already having in my Chassis (CM 690),

Kindly suggest me a good Add-on card to work as an adaptor for eSATA,

(My PC specs: ASUS P5KPL-CM mobo
Intel Q6600
4GB RAM
1.5TB ext HDD+Seagate 80GB for OS
Palit 8600 Gfx card
Cooler Master-CM 690 chassis (with 5 CM fans)
Sony DVD RW
Samsung 19" wide
NUmeric UPS - 1KVA
Vista Ultimate OEM
KIS 2009 )

Try connecting before switching the PC on and switch PC off before disconnecting. IIRC the connection in the 690 is not hot swappable.

These are called eSATA PCI card, I don't know about your place, but in Kolkata these are available in a few shops, they are very cheap, mostly from cheap companies like Enter, just scout your place for one.
