there wunn't be practically any big boost in perfomance. Only some 3~4 fps boost in most games.
U see, the x1600 pro competes with 7600GT. And an 8600GT also competes with 7600GT and is slower than 7600 in some benchmarks.
So its a BIG MISTAKE to go for an 8600GT throwing your X1600.
If u wanna really upgrade, get at least an 8800GTS 320.
But i wud say the better idea is to wait for the GF9 series. Ur X1600pro cud handle every game until the 9 series arrives.

i heard dat HD 2900XT need hell of da power. Its power consumption is almost double that of an 8800. But its looks are cool and its much bigger than 8800GTS.
Sure it has ultra high scores in some benchmarks, but not in all, maybe due to driver issues. Nyway after gettin it, dun forget to post the benchs.
me also wanna upgrade to either 8800 or HD 2900 in 1 or 2 month.
