source:source to this thread is that it is a part of an email received by me from a trusted friend(she won't lie)it was about vista and its features(vector graphics, one care service & all ) i wish i could put the entire mail here but i have already deleted it.
besides, these restriction are to stop piracy not to cause inconvenience to its users, however we are feeling that this is wrong because we are used to piracy.
i just wanted to share all this with you

before any one of you plans to buy VISTA when released read the following restrictions to users:-
AACS Advanced Access Control System
(stops you playing dvds)

AEC Automatic echo cancellation
(stops you listening to music)

AES Advanced Encryption Standard
(without the original keys your movies/games/music wont play)

APO Output Encryption Audio Processing Object
(same as above but failsafe incase first fails)

COPP Certified Output Protection Protocol
(ever use TV out? well not no more this stops it)

DDI device driver interface
(no clue)

DTCP Digital Transmission Content Protection
(no more downloading and watching tv shows on a pc)

LFSR Linear-Feedback Shift Register
(DRM checking on Registration key before anything works)

HDCP High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection
(wanna download something? has to pass a certificate first)

HFS Hardware Functionality Scan
(scans hardware to see if trusted DRM is turned on if not wont play)

ITA Input Trust Authority
(same as above only disables system)

OMAC One-Key Cipher Block Chaining Message Authentication Code
(fancy way or saying DRM is locked in)

OTA Output Trust Authority
(contents need to be auth'd with content providers server before they play)

PAP Protected Audio Path
(wont play mp3 files that are not protected)

POC Protected Output Controller
(same as tv out protection)

PUMA Protected User Mode Audio
(only plays DRM'd bull****)

PVP Protected Video Path
(only plays DRM files with licence)

PVP-OPM Protected Video Path - Output Protection Management
(speaks for itself)

PVP-UAB Protected Video Path - user-accessible bus
(no hardware/software hacks as the protection is in the drivers)

RSA Rivest-Shamir-Adleman

SAP Secure Audio Path
(bye bye unlicenced content)

SCMS Serial Copying Management System
(other words if found with a invalid key it will remove it)

S/PDIF Sony/Philips Digital Interchange Format

SRM System Renewability Messages

UMA User Mode Audio

VAS Virtual Audio Server

VPO Virtual Protected Output

Now you all know the details!!!
so all those who wanted to buy VISTA will still stick to their decision?
plz rate this msg its my first new thread
i don't know what the above abbr. means exactly but searching on net will surely quench your thirst(of knowledge)

so what am i supposed do with my pc if all this not allowed????
however i still question ur source and info coz i highly doubt MS would put so many restrictions which will certainly result in less sales so i would like to put forward this question to all vista beta users and i will certainly empty my hdd to try vista beta

Yes even I don't think Microsoft is a fool company !! They will never do this, ya restrictions can be there on illegal version of vista (if any). But the OS with ORIGINAL version will not have any of this restrictions.

Yeah, some restriction are there to protect the Windows OS. But the list is too
many!! If all these are implemented in Vista more users will move to Linux or
Mac. Hey, where is the source man?

Well this restriction are totally true. For example if you are using pirated vista you cant enable AERO. Vista is full of DRM. They should have called Vista has DRM OS.

First of all please mention the source. You dont credibility here unless you can post the source of your info. And no "I got it in an email" stuff either. Great to bring news but credibility is equally important. Then we can talk about its implications. I myself have not seen anything related to this. So source please.

This email has been doing rounds. but i dont think this piece of news is actually from microsoft. all this seems to be something impossible. microsoft will surely first think of the losses it will incur by putting all these things and losing market share

rather than the losses of the ppl creating the music.

some linux freaks possibly trying to malign vista by reading too much and mis-interpreting facts about MS Vista
