Urgent help needed to decide which motherboard to use.......

Helllo everyone,

I have a Intel P4 processor 2.0 Ghz with 256Kb Cache. The motherboard i have is Mercury Via chipset.

Now i want to work on windows Xp which starts very slow on it. So i decided to buy a
new motherboard. I have two options in mind.

1. HIS 845 GVM

2. INTEL D 845 GVSR

Please tell me which motherboard i should buy. Somebody told me that INTEL 845 GVSR no longer supports 2.0 Ghz chipset. I am highly confused. And dont know how to proceed ...

Are you sure you want to change your mobo only coz you want to work on XP!!

Post your complete config here. There can be quite a few upgrades possible if not for the mobo.

Adding more RAM would be a better option. 512MB DDR Ram costs around Rs.2600/-.

I wanna upgrade others components also. But not the processor. The reason i am asking this is because somebody told me Intel 845 GVSR will not support 2.0 GHz processor. I dont know what to do. I want to buy the mobo only if it will support the processor.

if u want to xp to run faster.. then belive me,,, its no use chaning the mother board..... its better to go for higher ram... and if u still wih to change the mother board then go for intel desktop board 845 GVSR -- and more better use a 865 mother board
