Trouble configuring router!!!

1.I have a Linksys WRH54G router. The hardware connections are all fine. But while configuring the default password is asked again and again even if I type it (the manual says that the dafault password is admin). Even the web setup won't help.

2.The connection speed has reduced after connecting via router(tried browsing without configuring, it works but so damn slow). But when I set aside the router and used the modem alone, the usual speed is there.

So please help me get over the first issue ASAP.

Try and hard reset the router, then do the usual admin admin ordeal. In case you are stuck, try support/admin as user/pass and see if it logs in, some routers have a support account too. You might get lucky...
